Difficult fight for Shane it if happens.

I can imagine Steward during the broadcast giving his "if I was in his camp, I would have told him not to take this fight" speech.

well if it all happens....i'm hoping shane and margarito don't both win cos a rematch would be pointless

.....the thing is, you would figure that the winner of Hatton-Pacquaio is gonna figure somewhere because that is where the big money is

I might favor an entirely different outcome.

I thought Cotto, as long as he didn't look finished, had a pretty good chance in a rematch w/Margarito before Mosley beat him. At this point, unless he looks like Vargas/Reid post Trinidad, I'd be inclined to favor him. How he looks physically against Jennings will be important.

And I think Clottey has a real shot against Shane.

Hatton-Pac might lead to a rematch, or the winner fighting Mayweather.

Imo, you're doing the same thing (and making the same mistake) that the people who didn't want to see Cotto rematch with Margarito did...underestimate one guy and overestimate another based on one fight.

There is a reason that Shane was the underdog against Margarito and it wouldn't take all that much to have a different result.

    Why would Mayweather reciprocate?

clottey is another vernon forrest/winky wright-esque fight for mosley.

actually, there aren't any real $ fights for shane unless floyd comes out of retirement.

If Pac beats Hatton, do you honestly think Arum would make a fight with Floyd? Manny would be bigger than ever. In fact, bigger than Floyd ever was ESPECIALLY if he KO'd Hatton as well.

    112, 126, 130, 135 and 140. Would be impressive.

in fact, Pac would have more incentive to fight Mosley for the WBA title at 147 than to fight Floyd for no title.

i take your point as a general one....and that is why i would quite welcome Shane-Cotto 2 or Cotto-Margarito 2......but, come one....what we saw saturday was a one sided beatdown....i don't wanna see a rematch of that as i much as i don't want to see a rematch of Hopkins-Pavlik, Calzaghe-Lacy etc....

anyway...i see Mosley having a problem with Clottey defense....similar to the one he had w/ Winky..Clottey goes into a shell and let Mosley throws combination..then he throws his punches....

agreed. Clottey's unwillingness to trade will be a problem for Mosley. I also think he's one of only a few welterweights who is stronger than Mosley.

But what would we expect from Mosely? The guy fights any and all challengers. It's one of the things that makes him such an easy fighter to root for, even if his grappling does get out of hand such that his fights can tend to be stop and start affairs that are tedious to watch.

Anything that will force Mayweather to fight Mosley/Cotto/Margarito/Williams/Clottey or any top 10 Welter is okay with me...

Doesn't Clottey have a mandatory? I think Shane outpoints Clottey but beats him up like he did to Margarito. It would be crazy if Shane unifies the division.

I doubt Mosley would sign to fight Clottey. he said he's only interested in megafights and Clottey hardly qualifies. Mind you, this is Arum talking and Clottey is with Top Rank.

Correct. If this was 5 years ago it would make sense for unification reasons. Shane doesn't have time to worry about that now.

Mayweather or the winner of Pac-Hatton are obvious choices. The question is does he fight anyone in between, and if so who?

A loss would put him out of the running for either matchup. (floyd/pac/hatton)

Unification becomes an ugly word, when the fight involves a dude who picked a belt up out of the bin, while its rightful owner has to now fight him for it. Yay.

I agree this is a bad matchup for Shane.. Clotty is tough.. he holds a high guard like Winky in a way and he's big and strong

Shane needs to fight someone like Hatton.. he would seriously put Hatton on a stretcher..

    or maybe Malligina..
    or.. bring back Quartey

or bring back Jesse James leja

I wanna see Shane fight someone he can steam roll

It's a bad style for anyone.

If Clottey beat Shane I can almost guarantee Arum would find a way to not let Clottey fight the winner of Margarito-Cotto. Especially if Margarito wins.

    I don't think Quartey's all that great of a match-up for him...nor or previously.

Maybe they can revisit Zab Judah.

I'd like to see Shane get the winner of Hatton-Pacquiao. That's where the money is.

If PBF decides to come back I'd like to see Shane get that as well.

Shane just won a big fight he should be making big fights.

All those names you mentioned are a waste of time.

Shane just Ko'd Margarito with speed not overpowering him. He can do the same with Clottey.

Shane is better then Clottey period. It won't be easy. But if Shane can't land a mega fight than Clottey makes sense.

It will also be back to back big wins at the 147 division.
