There is something about the punk kid that makes me like him, that his brother didn't have. Not sure what it is but does anyone else feel the same? If you do what do think that "it" is? I recognize Nick is an exceptional fighter, just never been a guy I root for where as Nate is. I have always liked Guida, but I will be rooting for Nate this weekend for sure.

Sure, Nate's a BIGTIME Shittalker, but he BACKS IT UP...MORESO than Nick, N REED's Opinion...Plus, Nate's ShitTalk Seems more LIGHTHEARTED N REED's Opinion...He MEANS what he Says, but he just Seems More FUNLOVING, whereas Nicks ALWAYS Frowning & Seems Angry...

The Weird Thing is, Nate LOOKS like the Type of Guy that would Get BULLIED, yet he's a Shittalker...Nate is BUILT like Dave Chappelle, yet he's a BADASS:lol:...

The FUNNIEST Shit REED's Ever Seen N an Octagon is when Nate had the Guy N a Triangle & Flipped the Bird...REED Looooooooooooves the Cat, Personally...

    REED:lol:

ps. N REED's Short Time of Watching MMA, Nate vs. Guida is on his Top 5 List for Most ANTICIPATED fights...

The biggest disappointment of 2008 was that Nick Diaz missed out on his chance to be hospitalized at the hands of Eddie Alvarez.

I was loving that fight as well, I was hoping Eddie would put him away and shut his mouth.

Nick is not an exceptional fighter, I disagree there jarhead, though he is pretty good.

I like Nick more as well, though I could do without the two of them acting like 16 year old gangbangers. One thing I like about the Diaz brothers is that they usually give respect to their opponents after the fights.

so you're a big Charlie Zelenoff fan then?

I guess it matters what you think of as "exceptional". IMO, anyone that can fight with Gomi the way Nick did, makes him pretty exceptional. I wouldn't call him great, but he is definitely better than "good" . I think Nate has the potential to twice the fighter that Nick is

Gomi has looked terrible as of late, so that win has lost a lot of it's luster in retrospect. Nick Diaz is a solid B Level Fighter, but he's not Elite, or even Top 10 at his weight for that matter.

Really? I don't think of him as elite but definitely a title contender wherever or whatever organization he is fighting for. I would agree that I don't think he would be in the top 10 of the the world's WW's. Does that make him a B level fighter though?

Diaz would have had a great chance of subbing Alvarez and that retard is stupid enough to take the fight to the ground.

  20. TFK

TFK WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Why do people think Diaz could've submitted Alvarez? It's not like Diaz is some kind of submission specialist. He had 2 subs in 5 years. I think people put too much credence into a gassed, out of shape Gomi diving into a Gogo.

Alvarez would've destroyed Diaz. Hopefully the fight gets made one day and I'm proven right.

I definitely think Alvarez would've beat Diaz up, but Diaz catching Eddie in a sub isn't some crazy far out there idea neither. Its not like Nick is a scrub at BJJ.:nono:

  22. TFK

TFK WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Like I said, a guy with 2 subs in the last 5 years against a guy who up until the Aoki fight, had never been subbed. I just don't see it happening. And Gomi was gassed and dove right into that Gogo, so it was more Gomi's doing than Diaz's.

So are you saying Diaz's BJJ isn't that good or what? The reason he has so few subs is because he is a dumbass. He prefers fighting standup. It's not like Alvarez has fought a lot of submission specialists or shit either. The truth is if Alvarez was dumb enough to take Diaz down he could get subbed. It's very possible considering Alvarez isn't that bright.

  24. *Z*

*Z* WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Both Diaz brothers have great BJJ. Just because Nick doesn't always win by sub doesn't mean he's doesn't have great submissions. They both do.

I'm not saying he would have beaten alverez but you're giving him no credit.

  25. TFK

TFK WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Whether or not Alvarez is bright or not, I have no idea. I never got a look at his High School Transcripts. But he is an elite fighter.

I just think Alvarez's strength advantage and his superior wrestling skills would've negated any BJJ advantage Diaz may have had, had the fight gone to the ground.

  26. valdosta

    valdosta Undisputed Champion

He has those same advantages over Aoki how did that work out? I am of course talking about Alvarez not being that bright as a fighter. He was a dumbshit for taking Aoki to the ground. Seriously, that was stupid. He had the ability to avoid the ground IMO but willingly went there.

  27. TFK

TFK WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Nick Diaz is not Aoki. Not even close.

Alvarez just didn't look himself in the Aoki fight. He was way too tentative, nothing at all like his normal self. Maybe it had something to do with him fighting Ebanaz, Dida, Hansen and Kawajiri all in 2008 before he fought Aoki. 5 fights in a year, 3 of them against Top 5 fighters in the division, and the Hansen and Kawajiri fights were wars. That's a lot to ask from any fighter.

But like I said, if you've seen Alvarez fight before, he just didn't look his normal self against Aoki.

  28. valdosta

    valdosta Undisputed Champion

I've seen him plenty. He didn't look himself because Aoki fought like a bitch and was akward. Not that it mattered because Alvarez stupidly went to the ground with him. You don't have to be Aoki on the ground to sub Alvarez either. he will be subbed more in the future. Alvarez really is only a good fighter, nothing more or less.
