Great great fight! I remember watching this one live on CBS back in 82 on Saturday afternoon.

Once in a while, you have two fighters that just matchup so well for a can't miss great fight.

These two guys hated each other..but respected each other as well.

Limon won the first fight,...their second was a draw, and Chacon won the third on a split decision.

On this night,...Chacon was figured to be done since his last try for a title was a brutal KO loss to BozaEdwards.

Limon was the champ and a prohibitive favorite.

Alot of boxing fans look at the three wars between Marquez and Vazquez and think that is as good a fight and rivalry as there ever was.

Ya better watch these two guys first..and then make up your mind.

Fantastic fight,..and maybe the best fight I've ever seen.

I agree with everything you said bro, but it was on ABC's Wide World of Sports.

This one along with Danny Lopez KO 15 Mike Ayala were my two favorites.

Yeah but neither Limon or Chacon were as good a fighters technically as Vazquez and Marquez. That's why if I had my pick, I'd choose the Vazquez/Marquez rivalry.

Although, Limon and Chacon I think were more evenly matched. Vazquez seems to have separated himself from Marquez to a degree that neither Limon or Chacon ever did from the other. In that sense, you could argue that Chacon/Limon was a better rivalry.

Boze Edwards fought either Chacon or Limon too in what was an excellent all-time great fight. Can't remember which one. But those three fighters will always be talked about together is my guess.

That would probably be Chacon-Boza Edwards 2. The first fight was very good also, but the rematch was better.

Chacon-Boza Edwards 2 and Chacon-Limon 4 are my top two 130 lb. fights of all-time (or at least that I've seen).

I agree with your opinion on Marquez and Vazquez. Not only did they have excellent fights, but they're very skilled technically. Chacon and Limon were pretty sloppy punchers, but Vazquez is more technically sound and Marquez is a textbook puncher.

    one of the classics!

there was sort of a great round robin there with Chacon-Limon-Boza-Navarette for a few years, all great fights

and of course none of them could do a thing against Alexis Arguello

and I actually agree with Hegman, Lopez/Ayala was a classic fight

    Ayala fought that fight loaded

He shot up after the weigh-in
