Exactly. It can be used on the face only.

I hope they have a rematch! That was a nice ass kicking. A 3rd beatdown would be even nicer! :crafty:

No kidding. I may be in the minority but I thought BJ won the first fight. Regardless, it wasn't a beatdown by any means. In fact GSP looked far worse afterward. Penn won the stand up, but gave up a bunch of takedowns to GSP. But GSP was really wasn't effective inside BJ's guard and did little damage on the ground.

I will admit that I was a little swayed by what a bloody mess BJ made of George's nose and face.

I think GSP was totally greased and I think it had a huge impact on the fight.

Penn & his corner DID complain during the fight....

My problem with the grease was how effective GSP was in BJ's guard this time around as compared with their first fight where BJ's rubber guard almost nullified GSP ground attack.

Also, the ease in which GSP repeatedly passed Penn's guard should really raise some eyebrows.

That being said, GSP was the only one in the ring that was going to dictate where the fight was fought. Greased up or not, GSP was still going to take BJ down at will and win the striking exchanges.

    I sort of disagree

Greasing in my opinion would help GSP with the takedowns to some degree also. Penn being the smaller man must be able to utilize leveraging to his advantage in the clinch. With GSP greased like crazy his size is pretty much the only factor and of course he will win the battle to the ground because of it.

REED Thinks there's Pressure on BJ...@ SOME Point N the 1st Round, GSP will 1nce Again Take him to the Ground & KEEP him There for the Duration of the Round....

1nce that Happens, BJ will B SHOT Mentally & Get Stopped AGAIN....

GSP wasn't able to take BJ down in the first round, it wasn't until the second round that he scored the first takedown.

But GSP Kept a FIRM Lock on BJ & Kept him Pressed AGAINST the Cage for Most of the Round...GSP Basically Did what he Wanted w/Him, even N the 1st...

Has anyone re-watched the fight since the allegation of grease came to light?

I just did and I gotta tell you, GSP looked like one slippery dude. He has an extra shine to him for sure. But man, the way BJ can't get a grip is amazing to watch in retrospect. The way GSP easily slides out of Penn's guard really looks suspicious.

I don't know that the outcome changes much because GSP is just too big and really at the top of his game, but I can't definitely see evidence that he was lubed up like a teenage chick on Prom night.

Dana White must be secretly smiling. There was no way they could pull of a rematch and have people be interested as they were before. I think this will become the norm for the UFC.:bangh: Some controversy+ fight with a definitive conclusion=rematch

I just rewatched it last night and it's obvious that they did put vasoline on GSP. How much? Who knows. He definitely went right from rubbing it on his face to rubbing his shoulders and back.

It's also funny looking at it now and seeing the guy from the NSAC in the ring wiping GSP's back. I didn't even think anything of that when watching it live.

All I know is when BJ gets his legs up around your head and shoulders like he did a few times with GSP, guys are usually in trouble. I've never seen BJ's guard look so bad. Whether it's the vasoline or not, I don't know. It sure makes you wonder though.

I suggest everyone rewatch it and see for yourself. Round 2 in particular.
