http://mmamania.com/2009/02/06/form...ke-his-pro-boxing-debut-on-april-11/#comments I can just see it already...Arlovski is gonna get KO'd by some bum because he's got a sissy girl chin, and Larry Merchant is gonna have a field day with it, probably spouting off more nonsense like when he made up the lie about De La Hoya being paid $5 Million to appear at Affliction. TFK
He's big, hits hard and is in good shape. Plus he has fighting experience and trains under Roach. My guess is he'll do ok against few cans before getting schooled and knocked out.
Why wouldn't they? Arlovski is a name whether it's MMA or boxing. In the fight world he is somebody. I hope they do show it. Who wouldn't want to see AA make his boxing debut?
That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Andre ended up having a Chuvalo-like chin with the bigger gloves. ::
Boxing fans don't care about rookies. MMA fans don't care about fighters or boxing. They just care about the 3 letters: you ef see
Well I like both. I will watch Arlovski box and I'd certainly watch if a name boxer wanted to fight MMA.
yeah. I wonder if he gets buzzed bad enough whether he'll resort to kicking and shooting out of instinct?
By the way, Arlovski's chin is going to look even more glass. The bigger gloves are going to be more than compensated by the superior punching technique, accuracy, speed and power of a good boxer.
i'm sure there is a thread about it on this board. And listening to steve_dave, you'd dtink fres kicked his ass something fierce, it really wasn't that bad. For a guy with 0 boxing fights sparring against a guy with however many Fres has, he did alright.
thanks my manartie: I'd say Andre looked alright. By no means is anybody being 'dominated' there, although as you'd expect he is a tad clumsier than Fres.
I like AA. But stupid idea. He will be able to beat some cans. But he will never beat someone on a top 10 world class level. Two different sports, and his striking will be completely outclassed in boxing. Although, as corrupt as boxing is, I could see with his Russian roots, him beating up some cans and getting a fringe top 20 ranking by the WBO and a fight with one of the top European HW's. Not the Klits, but possibly someone along Sergei Lyakovich(sp) or maybe Ibragimov. It would probably be a huge deal over there. :dunno:
