.....i fail to see the big deal about Angulo aside from him being exciting.....i don't see enough talent or the wins on his resume to warrant the hype he has been receiving
None ever claimed he was gonna be something great(except the fool Kellerman comparing him to Chavez:doh:). But he's good, and will probably pick up a belt soon, and be amongst the 154 elites. He could turn out to be the next Margarita, minus.... well you know.
we say that, but who has he lost to? Nobody is gonna claim he's the world's best fighter, but he does alot for what he is. I would've picked him over Angulo, who is basura.
Yeah, I'm just not much interested in watching him on HBO anymore. HBO is supposed to be reserved for the best fighters in the world. Mayorga's current place in boxing barely warrants an FNF slot at this point.
I dunno, Mayorga presents a MUCH stiffer test than anyone Angulo has faced so far, I'm surprised by people thinking this would have been a gimme for le chien. Who has le chien beaten to indicate he'd just walk over Mayo?
Who doesn't KO Mayorga these days? Mayo is now a shadow of the shitty boxer but resistent man he used to be.
It would've Definitely Been a TEST, but a Test that Angulo would PASS...Angulo's More PRECISE Down the Middle w/his Shots (& 2-Fisted POWER) & he's MORE than Willing to Stay IN the Pocket w/Mayorga... +, Mayorga is LESS Effective the Fuuuuuuuuuuuurther Away he is from 147.... REED:hammert:
Hmmm that will be a very dangerous fight for Angulo. Last time Perez stepped in on short notice was against Julio Cesar Garcia after a three year lay-off. He came in surprisingly great shape and did a number on the scrub. Now Angulo is way better, but that is not a bad fight.
Plus Perez has never been stopped. Yeah this might be a bigger test for El Perro than Mayorga, cause Mayorga's chin is average at best nowadays.
I didn't see the fight, but is Garcia any good? Perez couldn't win a round in the Margarito rematch. He's pretty basic, so unless Angulo's no better than a Zertuche or Brinkley, he should pass this test comfortably.
Tito, DLH, Mosley (in the last sec).....you really putting Angulo amongst those names..... I had Mayorga up going into the 12th vs Shane....and recent wins over Vargas and Piccirillo show he still has something left ....i just dont see this great gulf in class between Angulo and Mayorga......Angulo has barely been tested.........you don't have to be hyped up as a future hall of famer to be overrated.....i can't see him establishing himself beyond the top 5 at this weight
Most ppl where? In Nicaragua? Shane was clearly on his way to an ugly, yet clear win over Mayo. The KO was simply icing on the cake.
....well maybe it is another case of what commentary you listen too......SKY had Mayorga in a considerable lead, i thought it was a round or two closer......it was a very close fight.....Shane was sloppy as hell
The SKY bods are utter retards. You were swayed, for shame. Mosley was disappointing in that fight, very much so, in fact it was mainly that fight that led me to not give Shane much of a chance against Plasterito. But shit, he was winning clearly. Mayo was competitive - more so than he should have been - but he was not winning. You'd have to be an idiot to have Mayo ahead seriously, watch it again.
Seriously, I think the SKY team were literally the only broadcasters to have Mayo ahead. Sometimes they are very, very wrong. I still can't get over how clueless they seem for people that have been covering boxing for years. Watch the fight again, and if you still think Mayo was ahead, I'm going to hunt you down and break your face.
Mayorga - Shane was razor close, I had Shane up about 1-2 point going into the 12 but it could easilly been the other way. They are some serious Mosley cheerleaders in this thread
True that. I thought it was a toss up going into the final round. Mosley looked like crap that night.
