ha ha, sounds like he's pitching a "relocation, relocation" tv show, his best chance of getting a tv deal I guess..he's such a laughable tosser though, if he were chocolate he'd eat himself
? he was talking about jermain taylor, then suddenly he was gushing about dirty ovens and pulling up carpets, full on, for several minutes, completely deadpan. is he mad? looks like he needs to sort out the heating in that house he was in, kept on shivering during the interview. nice little project to keep him busy. maybe postpone the taylor fight until after he's finished plumbing the new radiators in.
Nice Interview... There's a Sense of HONESTY to Froch's Comments that REED Can't Explain, but LIKES...Froch Isn't FALSELY Confident, he's 100% SURE Of Himself... REED::
well the uneducated always flout linguistic standards, in every language in every country. froch is actually not that bad; count yourself lucky he's not from merseyside.
its certainly an ear thing, andsince you brits are used to that pronunciation i guess its not the end of the world for you guys, but when he started ramblin it might as well have been in cantonese.
Yeah the majority of English regional accents are repulsive. They all seem have this flat, atonal, nasal, droning quality that makes everyone sound thick as pig shit. In fairness Froch is by no means among the worse. Amir Khan for instance, that's a hideous accent.
I can't stand birmingham accents. Or welsh, jesus. Mancs aren't very nice either. I really like a good Yorkshire accent though, think Vic Reeves. I also quite like Liverpool accents in a purely comical way. I like Scottish accents too, but not irish.
I love Welsh accents, personally. As for Scottish, my ears can't stand anything other than Glaswegian/WOS. Every other accent is more singing than talking, it's like Glaswegians on lithium or something. The worst are Brummy & Lancashire, IMO. Thick Manchester can be quite good, but from any of the surrounding towns like Bolton, Burnley etc it's hideous. Glaswegian <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6t4zW1dCN-0&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6t4zW1dCN-0&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object> & cockney <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gdr0TwiXV1A&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gdr0TwiXV1A&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> are indisputably the two best, in the UK, IMO.
that is helpful for all our international posters.....i didn't realise shooting stars had such widespread appeal...... then again, I am struggling thinking of a world famous yorkshireman
:: :: Actually that wasn't aimed at our international friends, of course they are not going to know who or what a Yorkshire or Vic Reeves is. It was actually just aimed at fellow brits, to illustrate the kind of Yorkshire accent I like. By the far the nicest of all Northern accents.
Welsh people sound utterly absurd. They sound like Indians trying to be hard. I love me a good cockney accent too. Especially growing up partly in London. I also love a south london homeboy accent, real life Ali G. As far as Scottish, I've never actually been to Scotland, but from what I've heard, Glaswegian is easily the best, but the rest are much of a muchness, I can't really tell them apart.
do you guys like my geordie accent? newcastle is actually canny for accents, where as mackem accents are just fucking horrible. the scottish accent cracks me up. most people assume me to be scottish when i travel, well most americans.
REED's Always LIKED the British Accent, but REED Didn't Know there were VERSIONS of it...REED ALWAYS Liked Hearing Guys like Nigel Benn, Prince Naseem & Hatton Interviewed... REED:mj:
What do U Brits Think of REED's Accent????... http://fightbeat.podomatic.com/player/web/2009-01-25T21_48_40-08_00 REED'll Probably REGRET Asking that Question... REED::
I hate the geordie accent, and I AM one. I physically cringe every time I hear geordies speak on TV; without exception they sound like complete morons... Agreed with the rest. MTF
I quite like the Geordie accent. It does have a comical element, admittedly, but it's actually pretty cool. Certainly I can stand to listen to it no problem, where as Lancashire, Brummy & hun-Irish make me physically recoil.
my accent has been mutilated by childhood in the black country, seven years at grammar school, three at cambridge, and two with a thousand chinese students. have been asked if i'm irish, australian, or a german who learned english from american movies. personally i think my black country (i.e. practically brummie) roots show through in my "-u-" sounds: bus, look, cook, pub, etc. i agree with all of your condemnations.
