Imagine Cotto as a commentator: "I think...he is following his corner's plan...he is doing exactly what his corner tells him to do...he trained well..." Boxer gets KO'd, "maybe...he took this fight...like his promoter told him...he did what he was supposed to do.":boohoo:
dsimon writes Lewis has the gift guys grow up.... He makes the obvious seem superb! Lewis after the guy is punched in the face: "He needs to protect his face more." YEah baby thats right bitches!!!! learn it right!! Lewis after the guy is hit with a tremendous shot and is twitching on the canvas: "I don't think he will get up." :::: I hear you guys my favorite was bobby C. Emmanual was good before he became a shill. Larry is appreciated greatly.
Do you know of anyone man enought to try that, Hanzy? Tito Oritz tried and was flattened, and I mean smashed to the pavement.
It was outside at a Celebrity hot dog fund raising event. Tito mouthed off, Lennox decked him, and Tito walked away. Tito walked off into Jenna's loving arms.
dsimon writes: Karl do you remember when Gene LeBell made Stephen Seagal shit on himself? from being chocked out?
I think that was a fabrication, just a rumour made up. Lewis and Ortiz actually became the best of friends during that show. Ortiz called him the coolest guy he ever met on the Howard Stern show I think it was.
It's funny when people say Lewis has gotten better as a comentator. Because he still sounds the same as his first telecast. He still says stupid shit like "he needs to throw more punches", "he really wants to get in there and fight" :notallthere: Personally I really don't put too much on the commentators. As long as the guy doing blow by blow is somewhat exciting and makes the fight more interesting.
It was on the set of "Out For Justice" when Gene took him out. Seagal had him fired for that, and had his attorneys said they would sue him if ever word leaked out.
No, Hanzy. You are correct in that Gene was one of the stuntmen on the show that used to be paid to take Bruces' punches and kicks, but the two were friends and admired one another's prowess. No one ever made Lee look like a clown, and in fact, Bruce got Gene the job on that show, with Lee knocking him out each time.
Its a bullshit rumor. Its been proven to be false by Lennox and tito and everyone. But its hilarious how easily you spewed it as fact. As if there was no way it could not be true. Kind of puts a question into everything else you have said. ::
I am not going beyond this..this is a boxing thread. Just ask Anthony via PM or TAA, just ask him..about, us!
Hey Stinger how come you always copy and paste what somebody says rather than just hit the fucking quote button? Is it that you don't like the little square boxes peoples quotes wind up in, or maybe you're still ignorant on how exactly to use some of the more basic controls on this here forum? ::
Lennox Lewis isn't there to call the action, he's just there to chime in. Lampley is the blow by blow guy. Kellerman is the historian. Frankly, Lewis isn't even needed. You don't need three commentators for anything. Three's a crowd.
As OFF the Wall as Big George was, @ Least he was ENTERTAINING...Lennox Lewis is Dumb & BORING.... REED:hammert:
REED's the Same Way... When REED Started Watching Boxing, Howard Cosell did ABC, Marv Albert & Ferdie Pacheco did NBC & Tim Ryan & Gil Clancy did CBS...Those will ALWAYS B REED's Favorites... REED:hammert:
Pacheco was on Showtime when I started, with Albert and Czyz. I always liked Pacheco and hated Czyz, but when I watch those old broadcasts now I miss them. And even though Lampley is kind of a joke these days, I'll miss him when he's gone. A big HBO fight wouldn't sound the same without him.
He's there so that Lampley, Papa, et al can say "and joining me at ringside, former heavyweight champ...". Saying "joining me at ringside is a wannabe rapper..." just doesn't hold the same sway.
I think Lewis' biggest problem is he isn't a true fan of the sport. It doesn't seem like he watches boxing, or knows the fighters. I don't think it's because he's stupid.
