But he does know that knockdowns can lead to 10-8 rounds and that can be important in the scoring of a close fight. Some people forget that.
So, you want George Foreman back, you liked Pacheco, and you hated Czyz. It's like we are in opposite world. Hmmm...and you said I'm always wrong... ::
:::: Czyz was a fucking idiot. I also hated Tyson, so that's probably why Czyz annoyed me so much. He was as bad as Tyson's message board fans.
i rather have Foreman back before Roy.....Pacheco sucked ass...Czyz was horrible..in an unfunny way..unlike LL who sucks at his new job..but is hilarious.. Roy and Foreman are equal in the commentary thing...but Foreman adds a bit of humor into the thing...so he is better..IMO..
The should fire Lampley, Kellerman and Lewis and replace them with these guys <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PzeJfx5pyOk&hl=fr&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PzeJfx5pyOk&hl=fr&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2SZvOMC3Dag&hl=fr&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2SZvOMC3Dag&hl=fr&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Pacheco might've been the worst ever of anyone on Showtime or HBO. At least Foreman provided unintentional humor, and occasional insight. Czyz was decent, and seemed great in comparison to Pacheco. The only good thing Pacheco ever did was provide some comedy when he said that Tyson is "smothered by this mountain of white flesh" when he fought Botha. Pacheco was not only a stammering, stuttering mess as a commentator, but also claimed in his book that "boxing became more humane because of my presence in the sport".
:::: I nearly fell out of my chair. That was great. "The Fudgepacker Federation"................."There's 6000 people in the Arena".............."He's trying to fuck his face!" ::
I like Lennox because I always assume he is high as a kite on some mean green... "I've got to reach Mount Ziiiiiiion, the highest region..." But you guys are right, he is LOST on the air Ferdie Pacheco was the worst commentator in history, he knows NOTHING about boxing, complete idiot Czyz was terrible Roy was very annoying, but I think he was better than any of the guys out there now Kellerman is hard to take because he is an egomaniac and a know-it-all but I do like that he isnt afraid to disagree and he asks tough, honest questions Merchant I have always hated... unless both fighters end up like Benny Paret, it isnt a good fight Lampley is terribly biased and seems unable to recognize or differentiate between a landed punch and a blocked one... In the second MAB/Morales fight he must have called 15 blocked punches for Morales as "BIG RIGHT HAND!!!!" which I think influenced a lot of people into thinking that Morales won that fight handily, which he clearly did not Steve Albert isnt even worth talking about other than that he was an even worse hockey announcer Now, Bob Papa, I like him. He is steady, and objective. He doesnt seem to be rooting or trying to dramatize the action, he just reports it. He is very solid and makes the effort to learn. I know it is a cliche because he is an old-timey guy and a legend and all of that, but the praise given to Don Dunphy is COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED... He really reported on the fight, he called it clean and didnt let emotion or bias creep in... he was the ideal blow-by-blow man, steady and cool with his old-style New York accent... he really was as great as they say Howard Cosell always tried to make himself bigger than the event, regardless of the sport. He had a classic voice but that is about the only good thing about him... he was a clear rooter and knew very little about the sport I was never a huge Barry Tompkins fan, but I'd take him over Lampley's histrionics any day
what about Bernstein? Or the other bald dude who used to work Sunday night fights with Tompkins? I think both of those guys are decent, although the bald guy NOT named Bernstein has become a bit of a shill now that he doesn't have steady work and pretty much works DKP cards. The worst is that Wally guy who does Versus. He needs a lot more practice and I'm not so sure he knows as much about boxing as he thinks he does.
i get the feeling it's boring for him, which is the exact opposite of what you want in a commentator. Steward, for example, you can just hear in his voice that he's enjoying every second of every fight. And so he doesn't miss things, and he has confidence about what he's seeing and what his opinion is as to the fight's progression and probable outcome. Of course, it's annoying that he's arrogant enough to say things like, "I knew all along this was going to happen." But aside from that I value his insight even when I don't agree with it. Life everyone's said, Lewis provides no insight. And his attempts at enthusiasm when a fighter gets hurt or knocked out are completely phony.
