Damn, Friday Night Fights sucks a lot of the time but it seems like there's always some type of crazy shit happening.

Toledo takes a piece out of Prescott's shoulder.

Not sure why. He was losing badly but it was the end of the fight and he wasn't hurt at all. Just decided to bite him. :dunno:

It wasn't quite like Tyson literally biting Holy's ear off but yeah, there was an immediate visible bite mark on his shoulder that he drew blood from.

It was funny hearing one of Prescott's guys yelling "Look, he bit him right in the jugular!"

Lara looked fuckin explosive, he did very little then threw the 1-2 which pretty much took all the confidence out of the undefeated supposed prospect he was fighting, if Lara has a chin then I wouldn't be surprised to see him tke a trinket at Jr Middle. Gamboa's opponent simply tried to bang with him on the inside which wasn't very smart to begin with. Garbey is old but as his opponent got more aggresive, he found spots for that counter right to do some damage.
Prescott IMO should have been able to take out Toledo, I was impressed with his resolve in wanting to stay outside and use his reach, but Toledo was sloppy as hell running forward at times winging shots and connecting on Breidis. Crazy ending. I want to see more of Lara, and thought this FNF was good in showcasing these guys.

You're being overly generous towards the Gamboa matchup that shit was absolutely pathetic. The guy was coming off of a 4 fight losing streak 3 of which were from KO's and he was said to have been dropped numerously from body shots. Then Gamboa comes out of his corner and the first 3 punches he throws hit the guy and drop him and Gamboa put's his hands up like he just did something.

It's probably good though that Gamboa get matched up with bums for a couple more years. Getting dropped 4 times already by the kinds of bums he's fighting says a lot, plus he needs to learn to stop dropping his hands so much.

Yup, Gamboa is wasting everyone's time fighting bums. He has so much physical talent, but has glaring style deficiencies that he should be trying to correct by fighting DECENT fighters. Although I suppose if he creates enough hype he will at least be able to cash out later even if he never fixes anything.

I actually think Prescott looked as good as any of the other prospects on FNF. Yes, his fight dragged on and ended with a bite. But he looked very sharp in there, and Toledo took excessive head/body shots surprisingly well. Prescott reminded me of Tito Trinidad, style wise, except he has a better jab. He is aggressive, always punches hard (sometimes TOO hard), has a great left hook, and he kind of has that tall, lanky Trinidad style body.

If he can work on defense, defense, defense and keep those hands up, he may be a serious force.

Makes me wonder about the chin of Khan though. A couple of these Columbians with impressive KO records seem to surface every year and play the role of spoiler against somebody we thought was better then he really was.

Then they seem to struggle for the most part against everyone else who's not a complete bum. Prescott didn't really hurt Toledo at all, who had been knocked out several times before and seemed to have been at a big size and power disadvantage.

I will say this about Prescott. He seems to be less raw and more technically sound then most of the other Columbian KO artists.

I'd say he's closer to a J.C. Candelo then he is an Epifanio Mendoza right now.

He seems better schooled than both those guys...I'd compare him more to a Ener Julio, or a Miranda.

I agree though since Gamboa is ranked very high he should be fighting for a title rather than fighting scrubs on ESPN FNF waiting for a easy way to a belt. I don't think he will learn to stop dropping his hands at this point. I was very impressed by Lara who dropped his guy also with the first 1-2 he threw.
