I don't care how old Casa is, he is still very tough. Nearly doesn't cut it. Marquez put Casamayor out with 1 punch. He has power at lightweight. He might not knock Diaz out cold, but he certainly has enough pop, and more importantly - enough accuracy to go with it, to make Diaz think twice about rushing in, or being reckless in any way.
Yep... & 1nce the Baby Bull is TAMED, he's a BEATEN Fighter...For a "Textbook Boxer", JM Marquez Hits VERY Hard....Even Though Stylistically he's a "Cutey", Marquez can BANG....JM DOESN'T have the Best Whiskers in the World, but he's TOUGH...& Along w/the ACCURACY that U Pointed Out, he's a VERY Bad Matchup for Juan Diaz... JM was an ACQUIRED Taste for REED, but he's EARNED ALOT of Brownie Points Lately, N the RE w/Pac & the Casa Fight.... REED:hammert:
I really don't think too much of Marquez's win of Casa. It was clear as day that Casa isn't the fighter he used to be WELL BEFORE he ever got in the ring with Marquez. Diaz is young, he is hungry and his workrate will win rounds. I'm taking Diaz by UD but it will not be without a fight. I'm thinking 8-4 or 7-5 type of decision. Diaz workrate makes the difference. Juan has a decent chin, Marquez isn't stopping him.
Not really but it sure highlights the decline of Casamayor. Something you have to take into consideration when measuring what a win over Casa actually means at this point.
Interesting... Manny Pac HASN'T Been Able to Win 8 Rounds in EITHER of his Fights Against Marquez, yet U Think Diaz Could???... REED:hammert:
Sure, the Win DOESN'T Mean as Much as it Would've 2-3 Years Ago, but Being the 1st to STOP a Guy w/the GUILE, CHIN & Overall Defensive Skills of Casa (Even a FADED Version) Still CARRIES a Little Bit of Weight.... REED:kidcool:
I'm gonna go wit Stinger Karl and pick Juan Diaz. I think that Juan Diaz's size and activity will be too much for Marquez. I'll Holla 5000
Manny Pac ATTACKS Much Better than Juan Diaz Does...Slightly More SOPHISTICATED, but As Effective, if Not More....Diaz MIGHT have a Slightlly Higher Workrate, but Manny Pac DEFINITELY Hits Harder w/Either Hand... There's a DECISIVE Edge in Overall Speed for Pac as Well...Pac Certainly ISN'T "Chinny" Either... REED:hammert:
if you want to gauge what the dude had left. seeing casamayor knocked out of the ring by an ordinary guy like katsidis showed me he had a foot in the grave.
I agree 100 percent. Casa was well passed it in the Marquez fight and does not have the activity that Diaz has. I'll Holla 5000
You and I seem to see a lot of things similarly these days. Marquez was absolutely an acquired taste for me too, I'm a borderline fan now. His style has improved, he's become more exciting, and as such I've been able to appreciate him a lot more as a fighter. Even when I didn't like Marquez much, I ALWAYS thought he had pretty good power actually, and was somewhat of an underrated puncher. He wasn't aggressive, so he didn't really demonstrate his power as much as say, a Morales, but his punches always looked powerful to me. You can see the impact of his punches, and the opponent's reactions, and he has a pretty decent KO ratio considering his lack of aggression.
Pac is not chinny in the slightest :: I would wage he has a better chin than Diaz. Marquez's punches didn't faze him at all, and neither did Oscar's left hook at 147, the few times it landed flush. Pacman has a very good chin, why on earth would you think he is chinny? When was the last time he was knocked down or hurt?
Pac's chin can be debated, not sure why I actually posted that though. It really has nothing to do with this fight or discussion.
Just admit you were wrong, it's one of the wrongest things you've ever said. Seriously, when was the last time Pacman was knocked down or hurt? His chin at the higher weight classes is totally solid.
NO! Ok, you got me. That was pretty wrong. It's solid these days. I just can't get the image of Pac getting KO'd twice at midget weights out of my mind.
You have to, because it IS solid these days. Seriously, he took the best that MAB, Morales and Marquez had to offer, and was never in danger of going down, shit he was never even wobbled by any of them. And if that's not proof enough, he took Oscar's left hook on several occasions and nothing happened, nothing at all, the same left hook that put junior middleweights like Nando and Mayo on their backs. Sometimes a chin does improve when a fighter moves up in weight, and that's exactly what happened with Pacquiao. He was weaker at the lower weights.
Marquez STAGGERED Manny Pac N their RE... Can't Recall Which Round (Somewhere in the 6-8 Range), but Marquez Drilled Manny, WOBBLED him & Beat his Ass for the Rest of the Round...Damn Near a 10-8 Round Even w/Out a Knockdown.... But Otherwise agREED on the Quality of Manny's Chin.... REED:mj:
I'll agree with everything but not the part about Oscar. That was not even close to the same guy who fought Mayorga and Vargas. You know as well as I do that Oscar had absolutely nothing that night. I don't really recall him landing anything flush on pac either. That's not to say that his chin isn't solid though, just that it was the worst version of Oscar we have EVER seen and by far.
Pac has a solid chin. You don't last 24 rounds against JMM without one, not to mention his resistence to Morales' best shots with reyes gloves in the rematches.
I'm not talking about who won the fight. I'm talking about the lil' fact that Larios hurt Manny badly for a while. I just thought it was worth mentioning to those I'llbasemyopinionofafighterbasedonhislastfight fans out there who think Pacquiao has Baldomir's chin or something.
Thats not the point Double. The question was asked when was the last time Pacman ever been hurt or down. And he is correct Larios had him extremely hurt and almost downed in the 3rd round... And Marquez had him hurt in both fights, popped his head back to the back of his knee. And wobbled a few times in the rematch. Pacman has a solid chin though, and tons of heart, which is what keeps him. B And as far as my prediction, it has changed i think I changed the round. Marquez TKO 11. And Diaz goes down in round 10, and stopped in the next round. Marquez's power can not be question, he had a great KO streak going on for a while as well, and now that he is more aggressive he has been really kickin some ass. And Diaz has been down before, early in his career true, but still down, by less of a puncher than Marquez.
yeah but Pac took no precautions against what was obviously an overmatched opponent. any fighter as aggressive as pac, especially in a gimme fight, is susceptible to getting hurt. i don't think there's any question pac has a sturdy chin. we're talking about a fighter who's fought the best of the best and i can't recall his ever visiting the canvas. verdict: pac's chinis solid.
...... People overstate how "badly" Larios hurt Pacquiao. He was stunned, not much more than that. He's got a good chin, nothing more or less.
