I don't know that I buy Clottey's claim of having been injured. And Margarito's was probably a fabrication in response, IMO. Afterall, how would it look if Magarito had a tough fight with a supposedly "injured" fighter, if he weren't "injured" himself.

I think Clottey just ran out of gas and couldn't sustain the success he had early on as a result. It's a lot easier to claim he broke his hand then to tell his fans he hit a wall and could no longer keep up with Tony's onpouring.

Margarito's resume is full of fights he lost the first half of only to take over the second half and if not win it on the cards, knock his guy out (the second Santos fight would've been a perfect example had it not been for the convenient stoppage that allowed Santos to win on the card rather than be knocked out).

Even the Williams fight followed that pattern although he lost. From my point of view, he was the fresher fighter by the end and was coming on strong even if Williams won the last round by running.

Don't you agree it should be outlawed? I guess it's up to the opposing camp to draw attention to it, but as we have seen, the people delegated to monitor their opposition's tape-wrapping have been less than vigilant.

I think both hand wrappings need to be monitored by a neutral party who "knows" the rules and isn't afraid to stand up to a fighter's methods, no matter who the fighter's promoter is.

Clearly, Cotto achieves a significant advantage given the manner in which his gloves are taped.

If you don't believe me, get a pair of gloves and a heavybag and try punching it with and without 'skinning' your gloves. It makes a big difference.

Could opposing camps be "that" stupid as to not make a stink? Or are they afraid of being black-balled if they create trouble for a fighter with a promoter the likes of Arum? If the latter is true, shame on them. If the former is true, the opposing camp needs to hire some new personnel.

Clottey isnt very good, and Cotto is a better fighter. I think Clottey will go into his defensive shell for most of the fight under Cotto's arsenal.

You don't think Clottey has the potential to back Cotto up? If he can, I think he stands a very good chance at winning. I think he has faster hands than Cotto and is a better counter-puncher too (he'd better be with a defense like his).

I don't disagree that Cotto is a better fighter. But styles make fights and Clottey is tough to hurt, even when he's tired.

WOW HOLY FUCK! I agree with you.
But....I think Cotto beats Clottey via close but clear decision.
