On the ground he's brilliant, sure, that's what I mean, but one day, if he persists in trying to strike with a rangier, explosive kick-boxer or boxer instead of shooting in for the take-down, a KO loss is inevitable, we saw a bit of a preminition of it against Arvlovski, but luckily an opposing glass chin saved his clear tactical mistake.
Rahman would fucking kill Kimbo or Butterbean. Neither of those guys have a clue on the ground. It would be quick KO's for Rahman.
agREED... Just Think Back to the QUALITY (or LACK Thereof) of the Punch that Petruzelli WRECKED Kimbo w/, THEN Imagine Rahman DRILLING him w/a 4 Oz. Glove on... OUCH!!... REED:mj:
If Butterbean Could Get INSIDE on Rahman, his GIRTH Could Become an Issue...If Rahman-Bean Became a GRAPPLING Match, REED Isn't Sure who'd Win.... But that's ASSuming Butterbean could even Get CLOSE Enough to Wrap his Hands around the Rock...As Loooooooooong as it's a BOXING Match, Bean WOULDN'T Stand a Chance... REED:mj:
if he is serious about becoming a success in MMA....then he has to go and disappear for at least 6 months and train his ass off....learning how to handle himself.....and judging by the commitment he has lacked in his boxing career over the last 5 years or so, i have a hard time believing that he'll do that
Butterbean has been in 17 MMA fights, and 6 of his 10 wins are by submission. Now I'm not saying Butterbean is a legitimate MMA fighter, because clearly he isn't, but he at least has the skill and experience to beat someone like Rahman, who has absolutely no MMA training or experience. Same with Kimbo. He's been in a few MMA fights, he took down and choked out Ray Mercer with ease, and most importantly, he trained with Bas Rutten for a year, so he has some knowledge. Rahman is a washed up boxer with zero MMA skills, his chances are winning, especially if Kimbo or Butterbean take the fight to the ground, are minimal at best. TFK
He should've flipped Arvlovski on to his back immediately, and eliminated the only way Arvlovski was going to have any chance of victory, Fedor has too much faith in his stand-up, and one day it's going to cost him,..
Having seen both Kimbo and Butterbean fight MMA. I don't think Rahman has ANYTHING to worry about on the ground or otherwise. Come on man, you know what happened in the Mercer fight. Mercer had zero training for MMA and thought Kimbo was going to stand with him. He didn't know the first thing about defendig a submission nor did he expect Kimbo to go for one. If Butterbean, a freakshow of a boxer and one of the fattest fuckers ever can have success at MMA, Why not Rahman? At the very least he's a lot more psyically gifted than the Bean and he's in far better shape. Even out of shape Rahman would look in great shape next to the bean.
And how is Rahman any different? You don't think Kimbo or Butterbean would rush Rahman and try and take him down or tie him up? Rahman, like Mercer, has zero MMA training and that gives him very little chance of winning. TFK
Arlovski is also a damned good grappler. He's a sambo champion himself. It's not like Fedor could have put him on his back at will. That's ridiculous.
I still say Rahman doesn't lose to either one. You can't base anything off the Mercer fight. That was a joke. Rahman is way more athletic and he's only a little past it where as Mercer has been past it for the better part of a decade.
He'd have got him down alright,...he could clinch Arvlovski and then fall backwards with him, (the same way he took down the 9ft, half tonne Korean).. then it's all Fedor,..
That was Hong Man Choi, and it was not all Fedor as soon as it hit the ground either. He got his face busted up pretty good by Choi in the process.
True. And I hate to break it to him, but Hong Man Choi ain't Arlovski. As good as Fedor is, he wasn't going to pull guard against Arlovski unless he had no options. As it was, he knew Arlovski would make a mistake that would lead to a takedown with Fedor in a dominant position or to a strike that ended it. We know what happened first.
Hong man choi is not Arlovski in terms of ground skills,..but Arlovski isnt Hong Man Choi in regards to massive size, weight and strength, it cant possibly be easy to take a monster like that down, and it wasn't, but he got him there,... if Fedor clinches Arlovski, unless Andrei wants to waste exuberant amounts of energy in his back and legs, straining to keep the two of them up on thier feet in vain,..he'll have no choice to fall back with Fedor. At the closing of the fight, Arlovski eerily jumped into the air,.. and Fedor threw a fatigued, sloppy hook,... it was no gameplan of Fedor's to be getting touched up in a trade off,.. it was a tactical error to persist with standing,.. he could have grabbed on to Arvlovski and it would have inevitably gone to the ground,...if it was even riskier to bring Arlovski to the floor than it was to trade punches and kicks with him, then Arlovski must be the greatest under achiever mixed martial arts has ever seen.
Arlovski's biggest weakness is his Maurice Blocker-esque chin. Fedor knew if he stood with Arlovski, it was only a matter of time before he knocked him out. He knew he might have to eat a few in the process, but inevitably, he would land and the fight would be over. TFK
Eating a few from Arlovski isn't a bright tactic though,... If anyone is going to beat Fedor I think it will happen during the course of the standup, Arlovski's glass chin can also be transferred to the ground, and pounded if need be.
