How many times do we get this bullshit talk a year? Fuck boxing coming on regular tv now. All the best fighters were around 6 or 7 years ago.

If it had never left free TV, we might have a better and more deep sport than we have now... instead its a veritable wasteland compared to what it once was.

The 90s was the last great era for boxing

There are still some great fighters around, but the talent pool has clearly become more shallow than arguably any time in the sport's history

hmm i dunno.....i don't think we are embarking on a golden era by any stretch, but i don't think the game is in such a poor condition overall....there just isn't such a US dominance anymore.....and that might just be the way of the world

from a british perspective for example....the sport is brimming with exciting talent despite, on the whole, very little terrestrial coverage

The US would still be dominant if its best athletes were interested in the sport... they arent anymore... Im not saying that as some sort rah rah USA bullshit, but just as a simple matter of fact... 20 years ago boxing started to dissappear from free TV and from news coverage as well... and today, we see the biggest dearth of american talent in the sport since the 19th century... thats not a coincidence

:warning: Showtime more than HBO IMO can really bring back boxing to the networks...both them and cbs is owned by viacom...and working out a deal to bring boxing to the network should be easy....

..if there was any fucking sense in boxing..Showtime would use CBS to help their Showtime subscriptions...HBO could find a way to do the same...

BIG super fights..would go on HBO/SHOW or PPV...but stuff like....Cotto vs. Jennings/Judah/Ottke/Pavlik vs. Rubio...Pacquiao vs. Diaz...Marquez vs. Casa...Winky vs. Williams...Dawson vs. Tarver II

and stuff like Cotto vs. Mosley II...Cotto vs. Margarito II...Mosley vs. Margarito II...Calz vs. Dawson..Pac vs. Hatton...Pac vs. Marquez III...would go on HBO/SHow/or PPV...
