Damn! A Cotto vs Berto fight would have been much more exciting. Hell even a Cotto/Cintron fight would have been better to watch. Clottey's style is not going to make this much fun. This is going 12 rounds for sure.

The upside to this is Clottey is the better quality opponent. But Unfortunately it won't make for a better fight. A win here will look good on either fighters resume. Like REED mentioned this is a dangerous fight for Cotto.

It's a shame. Who can get excited about Clottey?

A decent test for Cotto, but a boring fight.

I also would have preferred to see him fight Berto.

Good fight for Cotto. I think Cotto wins fairly easy. He may even stop Clottey since he seems to fade pretty bad late.

I'm surprised. I thought the opponent was gonna be Shitron, considering its on the eve of the boricua parade.

oh man, if Cotto were to lose... there would be at least 5 or 6 more girls groped and assaulted than usual at the PR Day parade, that would bring the total to like 1,005 or 1,0006

what a shame that would be... go Cotto!!!

This is a can't miss one here, IMO a real barnburner as Clottey is going to press him and make him fight.

I know I'm the Clottey bandwagon builder, but I think Clottey is getting a bit of an underservedly bad rep. Neither his fight with Corrales or Judah was bad or unwatchable. In fact both are pretty rewatchable fights. Even when he fought Margarito it was an exciting match until he hurt his hands.

This could be a disastrous opponent for Cotto. I wouldn't have matched him up with Clottey so soon after the Margarito disaster. Clottey is even more durable than Margarito and he has outstanding defense, deceptive handspeed, and top notch confidence in himself.

Still though, the only way Clottey wins this is by KO or complete domination. If this goes to the cards in a fight he was winning, he'll likely get robbed.

I agree i think overall Clottey is a pretty exciting fighter to watch. Love his left hook, and i like his overall punch variety and combinations.

I agree but thats a very difficult defense to solve. Cotto's best punches will be straight down the middle. He should throw hard jabs to the pit of Clotteys stomach. I have taken heat about this before but beleive me that jab will do damage. :mj:

The clam defense isn't going to work on a good body puncher like Cotto. He will bang the body if the head is not there. Which will make Clottey tire even more than usual.

That seems like a real oversimplification.

Clottey covers a good deal of his body with his arms, and Cotto has to actually throw to the body, and show he's willing to do that...and accept what comes back if he does.

Yep, and remember he couldn't even do it to Margarito, but then maybe getting hit in the head with bricks will do that.

Margarito Basically GAVE AWAY HeadShots to PROTECT his Body...Margarito's MORE Susceptible to BODYSHOTS than Headshots & he Played Defense Accordingly...

I don't know, it was perhaps more obvious in that fight, but I don't think he really went to Mosley's body as much as he could have...he rarely even attempted it in the later rounds of that fight.

It's not a great comparison because they're very different fighters.

Clottey is a defensive-minded fighter. He's shorter, bulkier, has less body to cover, and keeps a much tighter guard...and counter-punches.
