Sitting in the FNF Studio, Bernard Says he Thinks Calzaghe is SERIOUS about his Retirement, so he Plans to Bulk Up to 180-185 & Challenge Tomasz Adamek for the Crusierweight Title....

Adamek is what he is; easy to hit, simple, predictable...somewhat chinny....but very hard to discourage and is a big dude, with a good right hand and a huge heart. Kinda sounds like Kelly Pavlik actually

Still, not sure if Bernard is picking the right cruiserweight for his title shot.

Bernard his a real real throwback, if he indeed make this happens, he will be deserving of a lot of praise win or lose.

it's hard to pick against hopkins, but adamek is a big dude. he's also better than pavlik in my opinion.

the fight is a guaranteed sellout in AC.

well Hopkins having found that he can cheat in every which way possible -it's nosurprise he's confident.

But Adamekhits hard. And Hopkins isn't a southpaw nor does he have the handspeed of Dawson. My guessis Hopkins will finally be knocked out,and Adamek willsubsequently sign wit GBP.

Like Some of ya'll have Already Alluded to, it's DIFFICULT Envisioning Bernard WINNING this Fight...Like the TAMster Said, Adamek is VERY HARD to Discourage, but he DOESN'T Operate @ the SLOTHlike Pace that Pavlik Does...

Even a YOUNG, SPRY Chad Dawson DIDN'T have the Wheels to Stay AWAY from Adamek for 12 FULL Rounds & Despite his Size & Power, Johnathon Banks NEVER Deterred him...Adamek's NO JOKE & he's BETTER @ Crusier than he was @ Lightheavy...

He's a VERY Dangerous Opponent for Bernard, but that's what Makes the Fight INTRIGUING...1 Things for Sure, Bernard was SMART to Wait til David Haye was Looooooooooooooooong GONE from the Division, B 4 Speaking of this...

Adamek is NO JOKE, Brother Lok...

He's KO'ed O'Neill Bell & Johnathon Banks AND Beat Steve Cunningham, N his Last 3 Fights...That's VERY Impressive...& his Style is Actually BRINGING Attention to the Crusiers, which is Usually Amongst THE Most NEGLECTED Divisions N Boxing...

    Adamek's LEGIT @ Crusier...

REED Can't Recally VEHEMENTLY Disagreeing w/U that Often, Val...U Don't See Adamek Giving Bernard ANY Problems???...We DON'T Even Know how MOBILE Bernard's Gonna B @ Crusier OR if he'll Hit Hard Enough to EARN Adamek's Respect...

Right Now, this Looks like a 55-45 or 60-40 Fight to REED...N Adamek's Favor....

Hopkins won't be walking into the ring at 200, his mobility and stamina will be fine. I see what Hopkins see's, a guy who is completely made for him. He will hit and run, with a bit of holding thrown in. I don't see a hard fight for Hopkins.

There's SOME Validity to TAMpon's Adamek-Pavlik Comparisons...REED Thinks Bernard just Might MEET the Fate Most of Us THOUGHT he'd Meet Against Pavlik...

REED is More Concerned about Bernard's POWER vs. Adamek than his Mobility & Stamina...1nce Bernard TAGGED Pavlik a Few Times, Kelly was Pretty Much DONE...Adamek WON'T Accept Defeat as Readily...

    We'll See, Dog...

Adamek is not a better cruiser than light-heavyweight, simply because he is a small cruiser and can be hurt. Banks is very mediocre, no chin and no stamina. That Banks was able to outbox Adamek rather easily, either means Adamek carried him for seven rounds or that he showed Bernard how to fool him around for 12 rounds. I agree it´s a smart move by Bernard to pick on a relatively small cruiser, but I still maintain he should go after Valuev. That is the fight with historical significance. If old ass 215 pounds Holyfield could do that to Valuev Hopkins can do it, too.

Banks has MORE POWER on his Right Hand than ANYTHING Bernard has EVER Thrown OR Landed...& it DIDN'T Deter Adamek...Moreso, Banks is "Chinny" @ Crusier, but that DOESN'T Mean NON-Crusiers will TAKE those Shots BETTER...Is O'Neill Bell a "Chinny" Crusier???...Steve Cunningham???:dunno:...

Adamek's Foray @ Crusier has Been MUCH More Impressive than ANYTHING he Did @ Lightheavy...It's NOT even Close, Really...REED Isn't Sure how ANYBODY Can Argue Otherwise...He's a BETTER Fighter @ Crusier, PERIOD...

"Small Crusier"???...U Could MAYBE Make that Case N Terms of HEIGHT, but Adamek's like 6'2 or So...& he's RIGHT @ the 200 lb. Limit...So How is he a "Small Crusier"???...

Like Banks or Not, he was a Fairly ACCOMPLISHED Ammy Boxer & he DOES have Skills...

Valdosta is not crazy. Tarver is a good puncher who should stop guys coming up in weight and Bernard showed what a little speed and finesse did to him.

My concern would be that I don't think Bernard's inside Philly body punching will work so well at that weight and that means a lot. But Hopkins can deal with big punchers well. Bernard has more problems with speed than guys who come to him.

STylistically Hopkins is at his best in a fight like this... a big guy coming towards him initiaing the action.

I do think that the wieght difference cannot be minimized though... Hopkins cant break the body down at that weight.

  17. Azazel

I agree that Adamek is a better cruiser because he needs guy to be in front of him to be effective and guy's at cw are pretty flatfooted, moreso than the one at lhw. I really like his punch selection and combination, but he got a lot of trouble with some movement and a good jab.

  18. ElTerriblee

Bell simply quit. I don´t know wtf that was about, but I think Bell might have bet the under plus Adamek and got a nice retirement cheque. Banks also fights like an amateur, he has the stamina for three rounds and the chin to need two headgears. Fraudley was also an accomplished amateur, so am I supposed to be in awe every time somebody beats him. Martin Rogan beat Fraudley, and he´s a 37 year old full time cab driver, who won the "british idol"-boxing contest.:lol:

Although I guess one can make a case for him having a better record at cruiserweight, since Adamek´s light-heavyweight resume is pretty crap besides Briggs 1+2 and Dawson. Still don´t think he´s big at cruiser. He can easily make 200 pounds and I doubt he gains much weight at all. Adamek probably would be suited perfectly for the old limit of 190 pounds.

Bell quit job vs Adamek was probably the worst I ever saw, he made Freitass quit celebration dance look warriorish in comparasion.
BTW, Matt Rogan just koed Skelton, I never seen him fight but he'S starting to build a very decent resume and am wondering if he's worth to keep an eye on.

This is boxing, not 'fighting' ,..if it were MMA ...Hopkins would be rolling around with that familiar 'bitch face' he puts on against a bigger opponent... in boxing you can shut down the action with ease, if Hopkins 'ran' in the cage he'd be tackled,..if he clinched he'd be flipped to the floor, if he ducked right down and showed his opponent his brain stem and spine, he'd be lifted up and slammed down onto the back of his neck. In boxing, there's a way to get out of a 'real' fight and subsequently pot your way to a points victory,.. at the duration of that is mountains of undeserved praise and glory, forgetting about the 'details' and replacing it with ... OH MY GOD HOPKINS CONTINUES TO AMAZE!!!! 44 YEARS OLD, A CAREER LITTLE MIDDLEWEIGHT, MOVES UP AND SLAYS A CRUISERWEIGHT MONSTER!!!!!.....Wrong in several ways,..but for one, he ran from that cruiserweight's dad, and around the ring, exploiting the rules of the game that are never being enforced properly.

Chad Dawson, has already surpassed Hopkins 'amazing feit' with his victory over Tarver, and he virtually shut Adamek the fuck out,.. so that is Hopkins 'oppurtunistic' fight for 'glory' right there in the division with him,..but the funny thing is, he knows how stupid people are, to the extent that he'll blatantly admit to your face, that he's deliberately picking cherries.

So remember impressed high-rolling Hopkins groupies, let me interperate it like this for you, he can fool everyone all he likes, but at the end of the day, he's two times Jermaine's bitch, he's Roy's bitch, and most heartbreaking of all (for him especially) is that he's Calzaghe's bitch too,... some further retribution 'on points' will never erase the fact that despite his consecutive rounds of rule breaking, illegal implimentation, and his general desperate 'kicking and screaming stink',...those three 'got' him, they STILL got him. :crafty:

    Panchyprsss Clogg's LORD PROTECTOR

:bears:Smart move by Hops. Adamek is there to be taken again and Hopkins can pull it easily. I even predict that Hopkins will stop him and, as you know, I hate Hopkins guts, but I pick him to take Adamek to school and stop him in the late rounds.

  25. salaco

Jeez, on the one hand Adamek is a tough guy, and has the power to trouble Hopkins but its hard to get excited about a fight where you know Hopkins' gameplan will be to spoil, jump in with the lead right, keep moving ,and generally make it a hard fight to watch, which will be a near first for Adamek. While not fair to say he is made for hopkins, does anyone really want to see Adamek in such an ugly fight in what will inevitably be another HBO WCB date for Hopkins? It would make for a more competitive night than the pavlik fight, but I wish HBO would agree on condition he fought dawson first :crafty:

  26. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

I think Hopkins has publicly stated he won't fight Dawson.

Besides, the way Hopkins sees it, Adamek can do something Dawson can't (at least not with Gary Shaw as his promoter)...and that's fight in front of paying customers.

  27. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

hard to get excited about any hopkins fight. especially against a guy who lost 10 or 11 rounds to dawson.

  28. KaukipRrr

    KaukipRrr "Twinkle Toes" McJack

:nono: DELIBERATELY building Adamek up, to add some impact to Hopkins inevitable lead-right pot & clinch victory..., .. this isn't 'fighting' ... it's boxing without any enforcement to engage,.. unless the referee takes points, the 'sprinters' have 3 minute rounds to pot and tie, with that in mind, Corey Spinks could have the same success at cruiserweight,... there wont be anything 'amazing' about the eye scorching manner in which Hopkins outpoints Adamek.
