ortiz wants to give bullshit politically correct delahoya answers. he should act more like vargas, he's already let arrellano get his hooks into him.
Well first we learned Julio can´t fight cuties, now we learn he can´t handle pressure. basically he sucks.
Great. Julio has a new conditioning coach, hopefully every fighter has written down the name and won´t hire that clown.
He looked tired when he entered the ring and he didn´t pull an Ultimate Warrior entrance. He looked much stromger in his last fight. I´m pretty sure Julio hired some nutrionist/fitness coach, who has no knowledge at all, what is required to get a fighter into boxing shape.
Come on man, a country where great Champions like Antonio "Kid Pambele" Cervantes and Rodrigo Valdez were from?
Everytime I see Joel Julio I feel like I'm having a deja vu. I say to myself "Wow, Joel looks awfully soft around the middle, didn't he used to be much leaner". Then I remember I said that to myself last time I saw him fight.
Yeah, one should never count on alleged career underachievers to ever change, but I´m betting so much crap lately, that was just the icing on the cake.
I didn't exactly pick Julio to win, but i thought he'd do a much better job. Kirkland was rushing him and Julio rarely ever planted his feet or thew combinations. It looked like he was hoping to win the fight with one right hand shot. He didn't really show any of the boxing ability he has in the past. You have to credit Kirkland though. Kept up the pressure and right away fired back when Joel hit him. Julio couldn't get into any kind of rhythm. Kirkland wasn't as sloppy as we've seen him in a lot of previous fights either. His defense was still leaky, but better than i expected. Victor Ortiz is much more likely to be a future star but i'll still tune in to watch Kirkland fights.
Tonight I managed to bet big on Julio, Ullrich under against a tomato can, the can won in the 11th round. Bet Brähmer KO 1-4 prefight, and KO 6-10 during the fight, Brähmer stopped him in the 5th, swelling Kanfouah´s eye shut in 30 seconds. 20 seconds before Ortiz stopped Arnaoutis I said to His Royness, shortly I´ll regret not betting the under on the Ortiz fight. I´m like a magnet for crap right now. I´m still up pretty big for the year thanks to an awesome first two months, but I need to slow myself down, cause I´m steaming right now.
Gotta Admit, Kirkland was IMPRESSIVE last Night...His Level of SUSTAINED Pressure was Simply Toooooooooo MUCH for Julio...Kirkland TOOK Julio's Heart, Basically...He Showed IMPROVED Head Movement as Well....Other than a Handful of Right Crosses, Kirkland Really WASN'T Hit Cleanly w/Much of Anything.... Obviously, Ortiz was IMPRESSIVE as Well...Some have a Problem w/the Stoppage, but Not REED...Arnaoutis Went into a DEFENSIVE SHELL & Made NO Effort to Fight Back...He Balled Up like a 10 Year Old Ammy Fighter Would...Arnaoutis' Body Language REVEALED that he was DONE, so the Ref Stopped it... REED:mj:
That's what it looked like from where I was sitting, after they took him to over to the doctor. In fact, from the moment he realized he was cut it seemed like his body language changed.
Seeing how Arnaoutis reacts to knocking down other fighters (Torres), the ref was probably afraid Arnaoutis would drop dead from pure angst.
I can't say Kirkland looked impressive last night. Julio took a page out of Cotto's "constant retreater" book last night, and ended up getting the same result. Ortiz was the best fighter on the card before last night, and is clearly that after it, IMO. That was a nice counter over Arnaoutis' jab. Once Arnaoutis looked back for the ropes, it looked like it would be over shortly. He went limp after the uppercut, dropped his hands. It didn't look to me like he complained immediately, he still looked out of it right after the ref stepped in.
