Remember Dorin? At 135 he was a force to be reckon with and his style was not unlike Diaz's although he threw shorter punches and probably had more power and a better chin. Whoever would've won this match-up, there's no denying it would've been a sight to see.
Diaz by wide decision. Dorin couldnt break an egg, therefore wouldnt be able to do what Campbell and Marquez did. It'd be a good scrap, but Diaz would beat Dorin to the punch all night and outwork him to a UD. BTW - Dorin had more power than Diaz? WTF! Dorin was the ultimate feather-fist! He made Diaz look like Edwin Rosario. Dorin hit glassed chinned Crapafora with hundreds of shots and could never really budge him, though he did manage to fuck Spaddy's face up.
LMAO at Dorin having more power than Diaz Dorin was one of the weakest punchers I have ever seen... I rememebr his figth with Paul Spadafora, and my buddy said to me "I think my wife can hit harder than these two" anyway, Diaz is too strong for Dorin, he beats him up
I'd respond to this by saying that Diaz is one of the weakest punchers I have ever seen. And Spadafora was never known to be china-chinned or anything so I'm not sure what X's point is. There's no shame in getting knocked down by Sosa - especially when you get up and box the shit out of him for the remainder of the rounds. i didn't say Dorin hit hard. but as light as he hit, I think he put more into his punches than Diaz. also, the key to beating Diaz is to trade with him - to fight him inside. you can bet Dorin would do this. and i don't care how light you say he hits, he'd have the advantage fighting inside even as Diaz obliged him. the other thing is, whether you think Diaz hits harder or not, there's no doubt Dorin was the more accurate puncher. and threw the shorter punches. who's to say he doesn't beat down Diaz's pudgy gut? i just think people are under-estimating Dorin's chances here. i mean who has Diaz really beaten beside fruitass? his win over Lavka is probably his next best win and he owes that win to his solid chin because as I recall Lavka hit him with plenty of sick shots but just got out-worked. the next best is probably Julio Diaz. was anyone surprised? Juan Diaz was hugely over-rated there for a minute. I know hindsight is 20/20 but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it's benefits for the sake of discussion. Not that Dorin had some great resume, but he'd had a long amateur career and I don't recall anyone beating Augustus as comprehensibly as Dorin did. Plus I thought he was robbed against Slappaforda when Paul was still a good fighter (he's a hell of a lot better than Maliginaggi).
I don't think it matters much who hit harder between Diaz and Dorin. I do think however that Diaz hit harder than "Slappaforda" who had Dorin very marked up. Paul was perhaps a more accurate puncher but i don't think that matters either as like you've already stated they would be trading and not boxing. I agree it would be an entertaining fight but one in which you'd have to favor Diaz. I don't see Dorin winning a battle of attrition here.
As much as I like Katsidis, I have to disagree there. And Funnily enough I could see Dorin dropping and stopping Katsidis...
i'm not so sure Diaz hits harder than anyone, including Spadafora. plus, Spadafora was a much better counter-puncher than Diaz, and could fight moving backwards. Diaz wouldn't have done this. My guess is Dorin would've been hit with fewer clean shots against Diaz than he was against Spadafora who ripped Dorin up with sharp counter-punches. I think this is a classic matchup of an underrated fighter (Dorin) against an overrated one (Diaz). Take your pick. I just wish I could've watched it.
Jesus Christ now your stretching! Diaz is Julian Jackson compared to Spaddy. Spaddy was THE most feather fisted fighter Ive ever seen!
agreed, he is the wekest puncher I ever saw... he literally slapped opponents... only Ivan Calderon comes close (and he is a far superior boxer)
On second thought, regarding Dorin-Katsidis... I re-thought the matchup... Dorin might very well have beaten Kat. I like Kat, but he's one of THE dumbest fighters Ive ever seen. His ring IQ makes Zab Judah look like Hopkins by comparison. If Kat went to Dorin's body, he'd win... but knowing him he wouldnt. Dorin would have scored more with short shots and won. That would have been a great scrap however. Both guys would be bloody messes by fight end.
Spadafora was a sharper and more accurate puncher than Diaz. That's generall a proxy forpunching power.
LOL Whitaker was a sharper and more accurate puncher than Jose Luis Ramirez I dont think I have to tell you who hit harder Spadafora was a classic slapper and nothing more, he is one of the worst punchers I have ever seen
basically, in Spadafora and Diaz we have two fighters who can't punch for shit. the question is, which one is shittier (they're both shitty). i'm not sure either of us are in a position to answer that question. i know this - for Diaz to land as many clean shots against his opponents and be unable to stop most of them, there is something severely lacking in his punching power - whether it's small hands, weak wrists, or just a conscious decision on his part not to punch with a tightened fist (possibly in favor of retaining stamina). either way, neither guy can punch for shit.
but Diaz's opponents (the ones he beat) are tired and wore out after fighting him and taking his punches in accumulation... Spadafora's defeated opponents often looked fresh as daisies after being lightly slapped for 12 rounds Diaz is no hitter, but he definitley had more on his shots than Slapabora ever did
