Shit, the Version of BERNARD that Roy Beat, would've STOPPED Pavlik...& REED is a FAN of Kelly's while NEVER Being More than RESPECTFUL of Bernard... REED:kidcool:
If Mora and Martinez ever fought, it might be the compubox record for least punches thrown and it would certainly be the most boring fight ever made. ::
Amen. Either that, or he woulda layed him out with a lead hook like he did Thomas Tate.... take your pick.
Pavlik's already fought Taylor twice and Hopkins. It's disappointing that he will have fought three no-hopers in a row, but you can't pretend he hasn't already faced some stiff competition. Besides Abraham, who is there really at 160? Everyone else has a fight lined up. I'm hoping he takes on the winner of Wright/Williams. And my guess is that it's Abraham and his people that are stone-walling a fight between the two. That's pure speculation on my part, but does anyone really think Abraham can beat Pavlik? A guy who's best win came against Miranda in a rematch of a fight he would've lost had it not been for the preferential treatment he received. And need I remind you also that Pavlik fought the feared Miranda, before Abraham rematched him and beat him to a pulp. Abraham wouldn't have a chance of beating Pavlik. I don't think that's a reason for the fight to not take place, but you act like he's turning his back on some huge threat.
And at Pavlik's age... Roy had a won a title in two divisions, and had beaten Hopkins and Toney. Abraham can punch like a sonuvabitch, and seems to have a good chin... that makes him a threat to Pavlik... who's chin is hardly anything special. Would I favor him over Pavlik? No... but he's far and away the biggest threat at 160.
I'm as big a Pavlik fan as anyone and this shit is starting to piss me off. For the love of God Pavlik, pleaee don't let Arum make a joke of your career!
That's just It... If Pavlik had ALREADY Beaten Abraham, THEN Went on to Fight Guys like Lockett, Rubio & Mora, there'd B NO Complaints Because the Division would LITERALLY B Cleaned Out... Abraham's UNDEFEATED, POWERFUL, has an IMPRESSIVE Win Over the Same Guy that Put Pavlik N Position for a Title Shot AND he's PROVEN that he has NO Problems Fighting on U.S. Soil... REED:kidcool:
These Days, MOST Top Level Fighters have Guys that @ Least PAY ATTENTION to Boxing Messageboards, to GUAGE what HARDCORE Fans R Thinking...So Hopefully, Word Gets Back to Pavlik & he FORCES Arum's Hand, Similar to How DeLa EVENTUALLY Did, when Arum Kept Trying to MILK him.... REED:kidcool:
Yup. Which separates him from a guy like DM who was scared to leave Germany. Abraham wants Pavlik, and is willing to fight him on U.S. soil. The only one holding the fight back is Arum, and the Pavlik camp. I think Arum sees Abraham as a huge threat, and wants to milk everything outta Kelly, before he throws him in there with Abraham to POSSIBLY lose.
Pavlik has a high workrate, punches in combination and is a punishing puncher. But people have failed to see that his defense sucks, his hand and footspeed is very slow, and he is one dimensional as hell. Personally I see Mora's style..as much as I hate it...giving Kelley fits.
Thats no big secret... we all know this(except for Double). But that wont matter against Mora... cause for the 100th time.... Mora fucking sucks. If Kelly gets beat by the Latin Fake, he should retire back to Youngstown, and live out his remaining days in shame.
Remember Billy Costello vs. Lonnie Smith?? Similar styles from both fights. Everyone thought Lonnie sucked too and he did. But he made Costello his bitch.
Ironically enough... I just watched that fight a couple of days ago. But I fail to see the parrel.... Lonnie Smith actually had ability. The Latin Fake doesnt.
Mora Lacks POWER, but he DOES have Ability, Brother X...REED Knows U've Got CONTEMPT for the Cat, but he's NOT w/Out Talent or Ability... REED:mj:
you do realize that pavlik's nickname, the ghost, refers to his ability to evade punches and not his skin color, right? if pavlik is one dimensional then so was a host of other great fighters. i think ther's a tendency to label fighters who generally push their opponents back as being one dimensional. that seems silly because a fighter who fights every fight moving bacwards is never considered one dimensional - in fact, they're regaled as being master boxers. if you think pavlik is one dimensional you're missing a lot of the subtle tactics he employs. one dimensional fighters don't knock out fighters like taylor. btw: how would you characterize Mora'sstyle by the way?
That's NOT True, Doub...REED has Heard Pavlik Say MANY Times that he Got his Nickname Because he's WHITE.... agREED 100% w/the REST of your Post Though.... REED:hammert:
no he doesn't. he's a complete hack who holds and hits. he fights like a coward and has no power. antecdotally, i can confirm that he convinced at least 6 non-boxing fans to remain as such due to his holding. basically, he won the contender because he was the biggest guy who held the most. he's a horrible fighter.
you sure you're not thinking of guererro - the curiouly pale ltino? i distinctly remember FSN claiming that his nickname was due to his defensive skills.
Mora HAS Ability, Doub... NO, he's Not GREAT...NO, he'll NEVER B an ELITE Fighter & it's DOUBTFUL to REED if Mora is LUCKY Enough to Garner a World Title Again, but he DOES have Ability.... He's MOBILE, he has VERY Fast Hands when Delivering Single Shots AND Combo's & his Defense ISN'T Half Bad...Moreso, Mora Actually Stands & TRADES More than he's Given Credit For...Does he Do it OFTEN, No....But to Say that ALL Mora Does is RUN is Inaccurate... He Won the 1st Season of the Contender Because he was Quite EASILY the BEST Fighter of the Bunch...Granted, that AIN'T Saying Much, but it's TRUE...Bottom Line, Sergio Mora is NOT Devoid of Boxing Ability or Talent, even If he's BORING.... REED:hammert:
REED has Read, Seen & HEARD Interviews w/Kelly Pavlik... Q: Kelly, Why do they Call you the "Ghost"???... A: Because I'm White. Pavlik Usually SMILED & SHRUGGED his Shoulders when Answering 1 Time Pavlik Elaborated & Basically Said that by the Time he Started Qualifying for NATIONAL Ammy Tournaments, there Weren't Many White Fighters There, so the Particular Guys he was Cool w/Started Calling him "The Ghost"... Pavlik's PR Guy May have Made Up the Version U've Heard, but when Asked HIMSELF, Pavlik's Always Attributed it to his Skin Color... REED:hammert:
They said it was due to his - Robert Guerrero's - defensive skills, because it was Guerrero who fought on FSN back when he was with Goossen. That's not to suggest Pavlik doesn't have defensive skills, they're just hard to see among those who inhabit the spirit world.
