He's sloppy. Boring to watch. All he does is hold and hit. And he deliberately throw low blows in almost every fight he's in. Is anyone actually impressed by this guy? A guy who has no answers whatsoever for a fighter with hands that are quicker than his?

How do you guys get the wee titles under your user names? Ie book reader, Welcher, etcetera.

To answer the title question - yes his wins impress me. The guy is 100 years old and he's outboxing p4pers and world champions. If he has to hold a little in the process at his age I won't necessarily like it, but I won't begrudge him it much either.

Likewise. I appreciate his skills and craftiness but in a 12 round fight there's just not enough there for me to really be entertained with.

I don't like watching him anymore, but you couldn't not be impressed with the way he utterly dismantled Pavlik. He didn't even hold that much. It was movement and quick counters.

    Look at the choices, LOL

The pollsters bias is beyond obvious

still, it is humorous to see that the first two choices (the ones Trouble Mel was likely hoping few would pick) are far and away the leading vote getters

let me make another thing clear...watching Hopkins do his work vs. Pavlik/Tarver was great LIVE..at the moment when it happen...but most of Hopkins fights after Trinidad had very little REPLAY VALUE...

Double L, quit doing drugs or drinking bro. You are on a serious downward spiral. I'm just saying bro, don't get offended. Just think about it for a minute.

He might be boring to watch for some people and he might be dirty but he sure as hell isn't sloppy. He's the most calculating fighter in the sport and knows exactly what he's doing at all times. Sloppy implies he's physically awkward in an involuntary and un-technical sense.

I think he's interesting to watch and he knows how to fight inside in a way John Ruiz, Ricky Hatton and Wlad Klit do not.

Hopkins is a master. He's been in some ugly fights but his complete domination of Kelly Pavlik is a fight for the ages. One of the most impressive performance I've ever seen, bronchitis and tendonitis or not.

You know what when it comes down to it, it's about W's plain and simple. Guys know what they are getting themselves into when they fight Hopkins so therefore they need to develope a better boxing strategy to off-set the shit that Hopkins does. So I picked the first option. I'll Holla 5000

This jumped out at me as well. "sloppy"? Hopkins is a master craftsman. The funny thing is, he often makes OTHER fighters look sloppy by how skilled he is (Taylor, Wright, Pavlik etc).

i am absolutely impressed by his wins... but i do not always enjoy them. his "stinky wins" would have to be his "stinky" performances like against Taylor, Calzaghe and possibly Winky (never saw the winky fight)... i don't think he won any of those fights against taylor and calzaghe and i can't say i enjoyed hopkins in those bouts.

hopkins wins against pavlik and milk dud were anything but stinky.... they were damn impressive and damn enjoyable. have to admit i was heavily rooting for pavlik to beat him, but if that wasn't an impressive showing i don't know what is

    ....I hate you Double L.

    [IMG]Ok,.. you degenerative bastards,..

"Hopkins makes you fight his fight" ... "Mr unknockoutable"(wtf??) ... "Opponents workrates always drop against Hopkins" ...

....people, perhaps conveniently, speak like there is some 'auror of mystery' as to why all this is???...

He FLIES around the perimetre of the ring backwards,.. now if you do the honourable thing and chase him, TRYING TO MAKE THE FIGHT, you've got to spend the entire 12 rounds walking into his timing range, whereby he rapidly backpeddles, lining up his usual 'straight right/clinch' or his 'duck down, angle-up, jack-in-the-box headbutt/clinch,..additionally, he'll also reel back into the ropes and slam his forehead down on his opponent, that is if you try to work his body or trap him,.. ..alternatively he'll back up into a corner, with his head constantly down like a rhinoceras, where you can't approach him from any angles but straight in,...he awaits to fold himself in half with his back and brainstem (the glorious illegal shoulder roll shit ofcourse), then explode his head up like a rocket,.. or throw a hail mary right while taking advantage of his opponent attempting to lean in just to reeeeaaaaach the back of his head over the entire length of his spine and thigh,... whatever he does,...anywhere in the ring,... it turns into a clinch upon completion... as a result he shuts down the fight whenever he wishes,.. he turns the fight into a situation where,.. it's just him and his potshots,...without the rules enforced,..it's Hopkins oyster, you can only score the quick pot-shots he throws before the clinches, wether they land or not...

Another illegal little trick of Hopkins while running backwards and dictating the distance, is that he'll turn his spine (so his opponent cant see the punch coming) and throw a right uppercut,... he'll disguise many punches thrown behind a turned back,....which again, like just about everything else, is illegal.

To quote the 'masterful' Bernard Hopkins,... .. "It's only cheating if you get caught"... this was quoted as part of his expertise on illegal handwraps that he uses, but it can well be attributed to everything else he does.

The sick, sick, sick thing is,....If 1 single referee,.. threw the book at Hopkins and disqualified him......:boohoo: ..imagine the outrage.... for enforcing the fucking rules...?... WAAAAAH!!! WAAAAH!!!... it's not 'fundamentally illegal', it's CRAFTY!!!... ..poor Hops...poor criminal sociopath trash,.... yet you couldn't argue against it.. because you'd have to explain how something that is illegal,... is actually legal?..... you'd have to re-write the book to suit Hopkins style ..."waaah waaaah... let it ride, just let it go it's Bernard Hopkins!!!"

To anybody who has the ability to observe the details of what Hopkins does in the ring while keeping those DREADED rules in mind,.....He's the sports greatest cancer,...
...When he's gone, hopefully there will be no more 'crafty fighters' (as most of you in this thread like to call it) to come along, and blatantly exploit the rules in chronic cycles, searing eyes and simultaneously rubbing this ridiculously deregulated sport in your face.... it really is very sad thinking of other genuine fighters out there who throw down like warriors with honour and integrity,..compartively seeing Hopkins recieving universal praise like he's a god,....you've got to ask, is it worth going for the kill?, abiding by the rules?, taking risks and entertaining the fans???...
...................I hope a swarm of European amatuers come along replicating Hopkins 'admireable craft' and dominate every division, hitting American fighters on the blind side, smashing them in the balls, etc,.. not only will America hold zero titles,.. but you'll have nothing but "the spirit of Hopkins great, great self serving style" to watch,.............I think that'll fix you all :crafty:....after a while I somehow think boxing's 'rules' will begin to re-emerge and become relevant again,...- in unison you'll cry ,.."I CANT STAND THIS SHIIIIIT!!! :crying:",....
