No. I've never regarded Gomez as being particularly good, even at cruiserweight.

    Meaningless.

Calzaghe was much older than he beat Kessler, than Vargas was when he lost to Mayorga.

    Gomez quit.

Vitali did not look sexy in there, but again, he only lost one round against a challenger that some how said the best heavyweights have avoided.

vitali's a very good fighter imo. he's awkward and sloppy but gets the job done and is at least a lot more exciting than his robotic brother.

gomez got his ass kicked thoroughly for the first time

he is horrible to watch at times, looks awkward as hell and amateurish, but he is effective as fuck and tough, a bit like Villareal. I can't see Haye beating him to be honest, unless he lands quick and bombs him out but Vitali has a good chin and can't see it happening. He's gonna be around for a while unfortunately.

To be honest, as you may recall, I usually CAN.

I know Vitali is sloppy and awkward, but somehow he usually looks quite good/sharp at the same time.

    He looked good against Peter.

Gomez looked rubbish in there, not much better than Peter, but somehow Vitali just looked extra sloppy and crap tonight.

I agree Vitali did not look very sharp there (by his standards even). I think that Gomez's long arms and southpaw stance combined to his speed made Vitali a bit uncomfortable: he looks better when he has room to work which means he fights either slower guys (Peter, Williams) or ones who back away from him (Donalld, Kirk).

Though let's remember that Vitali is indeed an old man already and apart from eight rounds of sparring he had no fights behind him in four years
