...the hell is wrong with KJ Noons? First Noons chumps up and refuses a rematch with Nick Diaz and is stripped of his EliteXC title. Then EliteXC goes under and Strikeforce offer Noons an immediate shot at Josh Thompson for their version of the 155 pound Championship. Noons turns that offer down so he can instead focus on his boxing career. Well, his boxing career took a step backwards this past Saturday night as he dropped a UD to a guy named James Countryman. Noons now has a boxing record of 8-2 with another bout already scheduled in April. There was a times, specifically after the Yves Edward fight, that I thought Noons had a bright MMA future. Now I'm not so sure.
I don't know Noons' story. But he reminds me of a spoiled brat. He surrounds himself with guys who tell him how awesome he is and doesn't tell him the tough love he needs to hear. He seems very mentally weak. Thompson would have ate him alive.
He pissed me off by not rematching Diaz. He was beating Diaz in the first fight but it was a good scrap and to win due to cuts always lends itself to a rematch. The real kicker is the rematch was going to be on the Slice-Shamrock CBS Card which would have given Noons maximum exposure. And it would have been a great fight to promote the sport. There is no way Noons doesn't look like a punk for first not fighting Diaz and then for not taking the gift title shot against Thompson.
