Leave it to Canada to fuck up a good thing. http://mmajunkie.com/news/13989/report-canadian-commission-demands-rule-changes-for-ufc-97.mma TFK
I really hope the UFC doesn't cave. There are too many places to hold an event to bow down to a rediculous commission. TFK said it best, leave it to Canada.:notallthere:
"According to the report, the commission was unaware of the UFC's 2008 event -- attended by more than 21,000 people and generating $5.1 million in ticket sales -- until just a few days ago." :::notallthere:
I was thinking the same thing:laughing: They act like the fights were low key held up in the Yukon Territory or something::
The new head of the commission is a damn idiot and Mario Latreverse ( the former who authorized MMA ) is a damn fool for not putting the new rules in the book. This situation is happening because Stephane Patry ( the Dana White of Quebec if you will, he started up Cote, Loiseau and GSP ) promoted a Strikebox card with rules very close to Sanshou but with 4 oz gloves, a damn joke indeed and the commission was very right to refuse it, and required the event to be fought under traditionnal MMA rules. So the fighters made a gentleman agreement to keep the fight under the preveiously agreed rules but JAmes Thompson, either because he felt Bosse was going for a guillotine or because hes a pos that can't keep his word ( and I'm a fan of the Colossus, but I can't respect someone who doubletalk ), took Bosse to the ground. The fans, thinking the bout was under Strikebox rules, were appaled that their favorite was getting punished in a way they were told was illegal as the ref was letting them fight on the ground. So they began throwing beers and even chairs into the ring. So now, the new dick at the head of the commission had his excuses to applied the rules by the book, wich havent been made to officially legalize MMA under the unified rules. A real joke
I would think Chuck has more left than Coleman and Coleman gave Rua everything he could handle and then some. Personally I would give Chuck a better than 50% chance to win. Rua is a good striker but doesn't have the stand up game that Rashad or Rampage have. Chuck could get caught, but I don't think the chances are very high especially if the same Rua shows up that fought Coleman.
Liddell also always has good stamina, so the longer the fight goes, the more likely Liddell is winning. TFK
Good point. And I just have a tough time seeing Rua catching Liddell with a show stopper like Rampage or Rashad did. In my opinion, to beat Chuck you either catch him with a KO shot or you out work him for 3 rounds like Jardine did. I don't think Rua can do either. I also don't think Liddell is completely shot. I think his brand of stand up is always going to be vulnerable to guys that have solid boxing technique and good power. In other words, Rashad and Rampage have a good shot of stopping any version of Liddell.
Rua will lose and hopefully he will join a serious MMA camp so he can be pushed.I seriously doubt that he's busting his ass ......at his OWN TRAINING CAMP!!! ::
you said before fedor neevr lost to the "likes of" Serra and Hughes. I couldn't be bothered looking for that comment to quote it.
Oh now I remember Rua/Coleman was the fight, where the bald guy was about to die from exhaustion and Rua (?) couldn´t get rid of him for six minutes, although all it took was a push with the little finger.
Chuck Liddell hasn't been impressive for a long time since the Ortiz rematch infact. 30 UFC events ago.
Yeah, and Coleman is in his prime? The guy is way more shot than Chuck. You will see when Chuck whoops Shogun.
