That's actually pretty amazing that Hamed wasn't badly injured.

it's amazing he's never fought again or made a comeback. he must have really cleaned up financially both in England and when he came to the States. but it's not like he had tons of big fights. Kevin Kelley and MAB were the only two "names" he really faced. And I think only the MAB fight was a PPV fight. I could be wrong. But it's hard to believe he hasn't made a comeback. He must have really lost his desire in the gym.

He hasn't come back because he would get his ass kicked by any decent guy from 130-140.

He got dropped by Calvo for crying out loud.

Because I never saw a picture or pictures of just how bad it was. I also didn't know that he ran head-on into an oncoming car.

Hamed made a ton of cash, and it looks like he lives pretty humble in comparison to his boxing persona.

while it is true that hamed never had a whole lot in the way of boxing skills... he has become hilariously dismissed by a lot of people around here

There is a reason why Barerra's win over him was a big deal

It is because Hamed was VERY fast and he was clearly one of the hardest hitting 126 pounders of all time... he scored jaw dropping KOs that you dont see from too many Featherweights

And people always talk about him having a bad chin, but to me he was a guy who was knocked down as often due to hideous footwork as to actually being hurt... I seldom saw Hamed look REALLY shaken

I couldnt stand the guy, but he was a WAAAY more dangerous fighter than he is often remembered as nowadays

Hamed was a great fighter and should be in the HOF.

by its current standards? absolutley... hes more deserving than many of the guys in there

if it was for real, you could get rid of half the guys in there and he wouldnt get in, IMO

Agreed, but thats a different discussion altogether. The HOF that we have is less than for not including Naz.

hamed was once a very good featherweight. I'd say his featherweight resumé is far more impressive than Double L's fightbeat career.

Hamed was the man. I would take it a step further than cdogg and say no one in featherweight history hit harder.

the argument could definitley be made, IMO

but he also didnt exactly face the stiffest opposition overall, so its kind of hard to guage it to me

certainly just on sight, hes gotta be top 3 or 4... the guy was a monster hitter, he punched like a bastard

but I would think that Sandy Saddler, Alexis Arguello, and Danny Lopez would merit consideration as well in the discussion... all three of them unusually powerful for 126

I wish there were more fighter like Hamed. The guy was the man. His entrances and his attitude, the guy was one of a kind. A cocky bastard for sure, but he WAS a very good fighter. He had some great KO's.

    WAR NAZ!

    Too true.

The thing is as well, I personally found him cocky in a funny way, unlike when Floyd does it and it just comes off as tasteless and irritating. The only time he really crossed the line for me was before the McCulloch fight when he went off on one, but generally it wasn't mean-hearted or anything, just amusing. He was exciting as hell to watch as well, and while he fell short in terms of general boxing ability you was always on the edge of your seat because he could land that big punch at any moment. Because that punch could come from some bizarre angle/position as well meant there was always a realistic chance he could land it.

You won't see the likes of Naz again imo, which is a shame, Marco and co owe the fucker for shining the spotlight on that division again and getting em all the paychecks they deserved.

    Preach on Z. :bears:

Hamed was pure entertainment. I still watch his fight with Kelly all the time, half because it's a great fight, and half because of the pre-fight antics.

Absolutely, good calls on the three you named. The argument is there, but no one knows for sure.

Bottom line, the dude hit like a ton of bricks.

Also, I maintain that a peak 126lb Hamed (say from the Kelly fight, or the way he fought in his first title fight vs. Steve Robinson) and a peak 126lb Pacquiao (from the first MAB and Marquez fights) would have been amazing.

I wish that nice SLR would have survived instead of annoying Hamed.
