http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=19209 REED:hammert: ps. For the "Cheating is Cheating" Advocates Out There, it's NOfuckingCOINCIDENCE that Margarito is Taking ALOT MORE Heat than those who May or May Not have Used Steroids...
I wonder if thats because there are ALOT more boxers using steroids than there are packing their gloves with cement.
And allot more boxers are throwing sneaky elbows on the inside than are poisoning each others water bottles, too. The frequency is hardly the only factor at play here....or even a very significant one. *edit & no Im not equating steroid abuse to sneaky elbows on the inside, I was just making a point.
The frequency has plenty to do with this. It's like anything else; whats done enough times becomes acceptable, even if it shouldn't be.
you're right; it's not a coincidence. it's a misconception. steroids affords a fighter many of the same advantages that loaded gloves do - greater power, better stamina and work-rate, etc.
Perhaps if harsher consequences came to cheaters there would be less cheating in Boxing. Obviously Margarito should fuck off entirely, but it seems high profile cheaters often get their dirt swept under the rug, which is not right at all.
Agreed,.. let's get rid of ALL cheating in all forms, ALL OF IT..right down to the tiniest crevice,.. and not leave 'some cheating' remaining for certain fighters and certain posters convenience. From creating a 'brass knucks' replica with tape, to simply stopping the fight on your own liberty with a clinch,.. all this shit, has got to go,..if this sport is to ever be 'pure' ... Why the fuck this talk about 'varying degrees, you must differentiate'...:notallthere: that's like sifting through a sewerage pipe,..I see illegal impliments aiding a cheating cunt to victory in the ring ever so frequently.... Thankfully there are a few fighters who do abide by the rules,... that's the only reason why I still watch.
Loaded gloves could NEVER become a remotely acceptable or forgivable offense, Tam Tam. Never. In fact if loaded gloves became a semi-common occurrence it would threaten the sports EXISTENCE. It's just intrinsically way, way worse than steroids which are basically a recovery aid, which have proven to be of very little use in a technical & endurance based sport like boxing. Loaded gloves are a fucking weapon. A year ban and huge fine (probably full purse confiscation) is appropriate for steroid abuse in boxing, frankly I think Margirito & Capetillo should serve time.
For the same reason the law differentiates between fucking murder and jay walking.:dunno: Because different type of offenses have different consequences, implications, intentions, motives, circumstances, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
Only,.. in this land,.... murdering someone, is the ONLY law there seems to be?. Vitually, members of the jury shuffle around trying to pick-pocket one another, while this trial for murder is on. People only want to tear the head off the thistle,.. I want the fucken thing pulled out by the roots.
If steroid use was just a recovery aid, then there wouldn't be ways to mask it's use and it wouldn't be banned in sports let alone Boxing, but a year ban and fine is not enough IMO, perhaps a 2 year ban (global if possible) and full purse confiscation would make these mooks think twice...then again it's if they get caught, commissions can be just as corrupt. I agree about Margarito and Capetillo, they should be banned for life and sent to the can.
