This guy had a few interesting choices.
They're all great. The Tyson v Douglas KO and Jones v Griffin II are the only ones that I don't think fit in one of these.
VERY Subjective Topic.... Wilfred Benitez vs. Maurice Hope ISN'T There???...Ray Leonard vs. Dave Boy Green ISN'T There???...Roy's Got BETTER KO's...Ditto for Tyson...No Bob Foster???...No Joe Louis???....No Sonny Liston or George Foreman???... There's Really NO Right OR Wrong Answers to a Thread like This... REED:kidcool:
Reed... obviously RELEVANCE was a Key Factor in this list... not just spectacular KO's. No wrong answers.. but you have to take into account the objective of the list to really critique it in this way...
If that's the Case, REED CAN'T See why the TAMster DISagrees w/Roy vs. Griffin II....Under the CIRCUMSTANCES, that's Just about as GOOD as it Gets REED:dunno:
Only if you're a Roy apologist. A borderline B-level fighter historically with a defensive style gets overmatched and caught cold by RJJ and stopped in the first, whoop-dee friggin' doo. "That's as GOOD as it gets," .... seriously?
"Caught Cold"::...So Does Roy Get that SAME PASS for the KO Loss to Tarver???...Of Course he Doesn't, but Since it was a Whole ROUND Later, U'll NOW Attempt to Act as if it's an ETERNITY.... Honestly, YOU Could Learn ALOT by SHUTTINGthefuckUP Occasionally, ESPECIALLY Considering YOU'RE a Tyson Testicle Tickler... REED:hammert:
Look seanreed.net, unlike you, I retain objectivity about fighters I like. There is no such thing as an objective nutlicker. You have 0 objectivity when it comes to Roy...0 If i pulled quotes from you detailing the homo-erotic faggotry you've said about him, the list would go on for days. That you consider a KO over Montell Griffin "historically significant" is a gross mis-representation of the facts. Boxing people 50 years from now will remember the Tarver KO, because Roy was laid out and beaten in a rematch by a crackhead who needed two tries to beat Eric Harding, who couldn't beat Bernard Hopkins at the age of 105, who needed a rematch to beat every average fighter he ever faced. Does it bother you that History has already forgotten the much more embarassing displays from MY favorite fighter in his darkest hours. Does it hurt that Duran goes down as an all-time top 5 fighter by every credible witness, and apart from "Nut-huggers" like yourself nobody considers Roy in that class of talent because of his cowardly style and record? Does talking up a Montell Griffin KO take the pain away?
who woulda thought this simple topic couldve turned into another typical fightbeatian display of ignorance
Actually...I don't think anyone who knows anything about boxing has forgotten Duran's quitting in Leonard-Duran II. He has been given a pass by some because he managed to come back and redeem himself somewhat after that incident and his unimpressive performances that directly followed it, and given a pass by others because they are fans of his, but don't fool yourself into believing folks don't remember it. 100 Years from now, if boxing still exists, folks will know the story of "No Mas." If you ask most mainstream sports fans what they remember most about Duran it's most likely the two Leonard fights...and it seems to me that the second fight gets discussed much more frequently than the first fight. And before you start aiming one of your childish temper tantrums at me, none of what I just said means that I believe that Duran isn't one of the best fighters ever....because he is. But to claim that history has forgotten Duran's worst moments is entirely inaccurate. Most of Duran's failures are still well known to boxing fans...the No Mas quit-job, the blowout loss to Hearns, and the loss to Laing still make their way into boxing discussions more than 25 years after they took place. It does speak to the legend of Duran that many boxing fans still think so highly of him despite those losses, but are they forgotten?? Hardly.
Marvin Hagler vs Tommy Hearns was a brutal KO in a brutal fight as well as Vincent Pettway KO in 6 over Simon Brown, who kept throwing punches while his ass was unconcious on the mat!
Falling down three times from one shot. Other than Berbick against Tyson, when has it been done? That first one from Roy ROCKETS Montell into the ropes. That shot had some SERIOUS heat on it. Now if it were the Kelly droppage, then it would be more of a "So what?" deal. Griffin had beaten James Toney, was winning the first Jones fight til the foul, and his followers and enourage had talked shit to Jones' camp, including his mother. There was legitimate beef in that matchup settled in dramatic fashion. It wasn't one of the very greatest KOs, but a damn good one that resolved matters decisively.
U're Tooooo Busy STEALING Schtick to B "Objective", Rent-A-Ike....Joe Namath is Quite Possibly THE Most OBJECTIVE Poster Here, Yet U're ALWAYS @ Odds w/Him...That's NOT a Coincidence... Roy Jones Jr. was a 1nce N a Lifetime Talent that will ALWAYS B Remembered...Sorry, but U CAN'T Wash Away 15 Years of Unadulterated DOMINANCE, though U're Trying...The Deal is, U were Probably Only Privy to about 5 of those Years which Means U have ZERO Perspective on the Matter... U WOULDN'T Know that Griffin had Cracked MOST Lb for Lb Lists after the 1st Fight w/Roy & was FAVORED by Some to Win the RE...Boxing Mags even Referred to Roy-Griffin II as "Roy's 1st 'CROSSROADS' Fight Since Toney"... History will NEVER Forget the Infamous "No Mas", when YOUR Favorite Fighter WILLINGLY Tapped Out due to EMBARRASSMENT & Menstrual Cramps...Or How about when Tommy Hearns Damn Near DECAPITATED Duran, Leaving him KISSING the Canvas???...& Let's Not Forget the GREAT Kirkland Lang...Is that Clubber Lang's Brother???...Not Sure, but Duran Certainly LOST to him...So If U Wanna ACCEPT the Barkley Win, B OBJECTIVE & Note the LOSSES that Came Prior... On a DAILY Basis, YOUR Level of Boxing Ignorance & DoucheBAGGERY Rises, Dog...Now Kindly SHUTthefuckUP & Give Ike his Schtick Back... REED:mj:
Well I was thinking more about his losses to Kirkland Laing, Robbie Simms, and pulling an even worse quit job against Pat Lawlor. The "No Mas" fight will live on because of the magnitude of it, same with the Hearns KO. I get the impression what people will remember about Roy is great talent + beta cells. RJJ simply didn't like fighting or boxing in general, so in a way there's no way to expect him to live up to his potential, which was unlimited. Duran will be remembered for overachieving, and Jones certainly for underachieving
Jackson-Graham was just terrifying ditto for Ruddock-Dokes also the Cooney-Norton KO was one of the scariest I have ever seen Whitaker-Hurtado Foster-Quarry was nuts also Mercer-Morrison but I dont consider any of them historically very significant just great KOs the ones in the vid are pretty significant KOs
The infamous 'Judah-dance' was highly entertaining.:: The Nigel Benn vs Gerald McClellan was the scariest one. The Terry Norris over Santana was the fakest one and truly one of the weirdest one in history.
After watching this I took the time to watch a Slew of Jackson highlights, with his ridiculous ground pointing in the Drayton and other fights ::
he was pretty one-dimensional, but god could he hit... I have never seen a better one shot hitter ever
Instead of Tap Dancing AROUND it, REED'll Confront it HEAD-ON...Is Joe Namath a FAN of Mike Tyson???....No...But REED has YET to REED a Tyson Post from Joe where he's UNFAIR N his Assessment of Mike...REED HIMSELF is a FAN of Tyson's, just ALOT more Objective about him than Most.... Nonetheless, REED has "Known" Joe Namath Since 2001-2002 & CAN'T RECALL a Single Tyson Disagreement N that Timeframe:dunno:...That's 100% FACTUAL...By the Same Token, REED CAN'T Count the # of Times he's disagREED w/Joe as it Pertains to Roy Jones::...But the POINT N Revealing that is to FULLY ILLUSTRATE that REED & Joe Namath DO Disagree.... Yes, Joe Namath is BIASED...He Loooooooooooooves Tommy Hearns, Vinny Paz & Discussions about the Heavyweight Division... REED:hammert:
Thanks, REED! What's telling about the whole Tyson thing is whenever Tyson nuthuggers get angry and insulting toward me...I ask them to show me EXACTLY what I have said that is incorrect or non-factual. And, without fail, they avoid doing so and focus on calling me a hater. Or even worse, in the case of Jaws, make up things that I never said. And the last time I checked, calling a fighter "great", "one of the best ever at his weight" or "had an impressive run" are COMPLIMENTS. And these are things that I have said about Tyson plenty of times. Some how, when a hugger like Jaws reads that...it somehow gets misquoted and transformed into me calling Tyson "mediocre" or other bullshit statements that I never made. And you are right on all three...I am a big fan of Tommy Hearns, Vinny Paz and the heavies. Which is why I am so disappointed with the current state of the division.
