Who hits the hardest amongst the current fighters ?

Is it Vitali ? Valero ? Lopez ? what do you guys think.

Valero and Juanma are big punchers, I think Wlad hits harder than Vitaly. Pacquiao hits hard too. But the record speaks of itself, Valero is one of the biggest nowadays. He hits like a horsekick.

if we're talking in respect to one's weightclass its hard to argue against a guy with a 100% KO percentage

I think Valero is the front runner but if Lopez bangs Penalosa out early that would be huge.

Exactly. Too bad we never got to see Valero - JL Castillo @ Lightweight.

No it isn't, it's actually easy to argue against. There's another hyped up fighter with a 100% KO ratio, I forget his name.

Bums + aggression and decent punch = knockouts.

Freitas had a 100% KO ratio for ages too, until he finally stepped up in class.

Tell me - when he fought Chico - who seemed like the harder puncher? The truth is, for all his hype and padded record, Freitas didn't hit anyone near as hard as a true monster puncher like Chico, and I think Castillo hit harder than Fruity too.

Valero can hit hard, but not as hard as his KO ratio suggests. Pacman is a better puncher.

At this stage it's hard to say if he even hits harder than Marquez, who is a very good puncher in his own right. Let him stop someone the calibre of Casamayor or Diaz before claming him to be a true elite puncher.

Israel Vasquez and Thomas Adamek could also be included.

Neither Juanma and Valero have stepped it up to a really high level yet. I think Valero is more aggresive than Juanma......and that can have just as much a part to play in accumilating a high KO ratio, as power itself.

Lopez's KO against De Leon was very, very impressive because i had seen De Leon before and he had looked like such a tough son of a bitch. De Leon was a bit of a max boxing hype job, but if he had two things...it was his own power, and his toughess.....Juanma blew him out...the first shot he landed he didn't even seem to load up on....it is just natural power

It is tough to place Pacquaio....if he was still between 122-130, then i'd have him right at the top....but if he is going to be campaigning at or above 140, then we have to consider him on his power there.

    ILLUMINATI Roberto Duran

I say JMLopez..he fights very relax and just catches dudes w/ the punch that usually knock 'em out...while Valero is always looking for the ko and throwing many bombs...

Wlad is right up there, p4p also. He has ridickulous power in his cross and even jab. If only he would actually throw punches..

Though I love Vasquez and JMM I don't think they are in the same class as Pacman and Darchinyan and Valero and such.

I don't get all these hoes rating Valero so high on everything (P4P puncher, he could knock out Marquez, etc). Valero is being majorly overhyped.

He knocks out a 400 year old nobody, and now people think he could "wreck marquez early".

Anyone who thinks Valero is P4P anything is a stupid idiot.

Well, I agree that Pitalua wasn't an all time great, or anything close to that, but he sure wasn't a 400 yrs old nobody, same as Mosquera.

Indeed- Pitalua is declined, sure, but he has proven sturdy over the last few years and is/was a decent fighter. Wasn't he unbeaten in like six years and some ten years removed from his last stoppage loss?

Anyhoo, Valero was expected to win but to win that early was unexpected and impressive. Doesn't make him a KO monster or anything like that, but it was still impressive.

    Oh yes he was.

No major title shots (except the one he got knocked out in by Valero). No notable opponents except for chinny Santa Cruz who is a nobody himself.

    Nobody.

Didn't he also KO Cosme Rivera?
I dunno...I think thats a pretty big win myself.

Because it's never been done before? What makes it a big win?

Valero MIGHT B a Candidate Eventually, but it's PREMATURE to Place him On this List...An Exaggerated KO % ISN'T Enough...What Valero Needs is a SIGNATURE KO Over a HIGHLY Ranked &/or Highly TOUTED Commodity N the Lightweight Division...
