Just curious, does anyone else think the US fighters should be better than the group they have? I know guys in gyms here in the Pacific NW that could put a whupin on most of these guys. I just can't help think Dana chose guys to lose to the UK possibly to promote more in the UK. Someone tell me I'm crazy.:dunno: The red haired kid who looks like Shawn White impressed me but not many others.
on the one hand they have to make sure the show is competitive....but they are trying to unearth stars as well.....but remember they have done several seasons of this....US MMA athletes have had chances to get on there and try to succeed.....and the talent isn't infinite.....whereas in the UK, there is an almost untouched talent pool how far into the series is it in the states? over here, the second episode is being shown tomorrow
It suprises me they are just tapping into the UK. There is some good MMA in Europe and most of them are not in the UFC. They just showed the 2 episode this past Wed, they will be showing the 3rd this coming Wed. So it airs on Sunday over there?
yep....i enjoyed the first episode, but Dana White is just so irritating....i'm guessing he remains heavily involved throughout....it spoils it a little
He has less to do with after the show gets going, but yeah, he remains involved. He thinks he needs to curse in every sentence to be cool.
There Definitely Seems to B a Difference N the LEVEL of the UK & USA Fighters...The US Guys Seemed 2 B ALOT more Raw, Other than the Last Guy that Fought & Won... The 1 Guy w/a Aneurysm (sp) is VERY Lucky that his Fight Wasn't STOPPED...He Got Pounded for about 2 FULL Minutes w/Out Responding @ All...REED Was Yelling "Stop It" to the T.V. for MORE than 60 Seconds...Nonetheless, Dude Came Back STRONG N Round 2 & Finished it w/a RNC... Ditto for the Guy w/the MoHawk, who was Getting his Ass WHIPPED, Until Pulling a Come from Behind RNC Out of his Ass...The UK Guys DEFINITELY Appear to B HUNGRIER & Better SKILLED Overall... According the Pre-Views for this Week's Episode, Junie's Little Brother Apparently SHOWS that he Hasn't Fallen Very Far from the DIPSHIT Tree that Junie Resides in.... REED:boohoo:
That was the point I meant to make that you handle more articulately for me REED:cheer: Raw is a good word to use with the US team. Junie's brother hopefully gets beatdown quick, that should shut him up
I'm hoping this season gives me a better appreciation of Dan Henderson. I know he's a great fighter and has some good wins, but he just never struck me as a fighter I needed to watch. I have nothing against the guy, but he just seems 'blah' to me. TFK
Whats funny is blah is almost exactly how I think of Bisping's fighting. His personality is that of an idiot, but he just has never impressed me as a fighter.
Junies brother gets in alot of altercations in his first night at the house after throwing eggs at the fighters.
ive always like hendo as a fighter, frustrates me a lot over the years but as you said i think he comes off a bit like a dumb wrestler who is a bit of an asshole. not a lot of brains up there
I only watched a few brit fights and was not impressed. I did like the characters though, funny guys.
Rob Browning is a PISS POOR Excuse for a "Fighter" & he SUCKS DICK...Rob's a "Junie Browning WANNABE" & Junie ISN'T Even that Good Himself...But Rob Absolutely SUCKS...He MEEKLY Took a 1st Round Pounding (By a Guy who Pretty Much Sucked HIMSELF) After Talking BOATLOADS of Shit.... Rob's ONLY Intent was to B MEMORABLE (by ANY Means Necessary) as Opposed to Illustrating How Good of a FIGHTER he was...Good Riddance, Bitch... REED:shit:
Yeah, his whole appearance was pointless. He was just trying way too hard to be 'contraversial'. That doesn't really work if you can't fight a lick. I'm glad he's gone, because that kind of nonsense isn't the reason I watch the show. The first season was still the best as the focus was really on how hard it was to become a fighter and how hard they had to train and the shape they needed to be in. As the show has progressed, they've really gotten away from that. TFK
That was funny when the dude Ko'd himself with the slam:: Neither guy was that good so it isn't like that guy would have won the show anyway. He was an average wrestler with no real GNP. Dan was right, he's lucky he didn't get his arm broke. The fact that Rob Browning whispered in Dana's ear after getting worked shows me Dana probably literally recruited him for the show. You could almost see embarassment in Dana's face. The funny thing is he probably will get a shot with WEC at 135 and just get worked there as well. Bisping is definitely trying to be the center of attention this season.:shit:
You guys are exaggerating about the Brits being way better than the Yanks. I think you were buying into Dana's hype. They don't seem much better to me, in fact none of the fighters seem particularly impressive to me this season, on either side, compared to last season. None of them seem to have any power either this time either, no brutal KO's, apart from 1 retard knocking himself out. Efrain, Nover, Bader, Amir, and even Dolloway are all significantly better than anyone on this season. Oh and :: :: at Rob Browning. What a schmo, I can't believe he just turtled and took a pounding from that scrub ::
Junie does have some skills, but he will never be a contender for the 155 UFC title. Rob has no skill, no heart, nothing. MWS, I don't think the guys on here were saying the Brits were all that, just that they seem a bit more accomplished to the more raw fighters on the US team. I agree with you that all of those guys would be better than most of what I have seen on this years show, but that really isn't saying a whole lot.
Exactly... It's NOT that the British Fighters R GREAT, it's that the Majority of the U.S. Guys Seem to SUCK... REED::
I hear what you are saying but Zab was champ at 2 weights and gave great fighters problems. Junie would never reach that status.
Junie couldn't get passed Efrain, he won't even be on the Chris Leben level at 155. I would in fact expect him to get cut with the next 2 fights.
Yeah, the novelty factor with Browing wore off with his loss to Miller. He was way overmatched and had no business in there with someone like Miller. I think that was Dana White's way of throwing him to the wolves to get him out of the UFC. One more loss, and he's gone for sure. TFK
He lost but i wouldn't say he was way overmatched. If he was way overmatched by Cole Miller then he is a complete bum.
