    I got 101.

I blanked out on a couple of the early champs, didn't know some of the IBO/WBO champs, the EBU champ in the 50s.

Only 56 out of 113. :bangh: I could remember the faces, but couldn't remember the names of boxers Akiwande, Page, Thunder, Morrison, Sullivan, Tunney, etc, plus just trying to spell correctly "Klitschko" took me a few minutes.:boohoo:

The IBO and EBU should definitively not be there. Guys like Savold ( nerver heard about him ), Jimmy Thunder, Brian Nielsen and the Doc Nicholson were never considered hw champs. Personnaly, I wouldn even include the WBO, at leat not before Vitaly K.

I got 109. I got all the ones from Sullivan to Moorer with no trouble and then wasted more time than I should have trying to think who the IBO "Champion" was in 1994. And I never would have known in a million years that someone actually considers Danell Nicholson a "Heavyweight Champion."

I missed Tony Tubbs (couldnt remember the 85 WBA champ)

and I missed all that IBO nonsense and several WBOs

I managed a truly dismal 85, having spent a lifetime trying to spell both Akinwande and Maskaev...

I only managed 77. Although I spelled at least three correct the system wouldn´t recognize. I wasted like 2 minutes trying to figure out how to spell Liakhovich. And I completely blocked out Rahman and Roy Jones. I was wondering UNIFIED CHAMPION in the 90´s goddamn, who was that.:lol:

I got every legit champ except Harte, Willard, Tate, Weaver & Maskaev though. Whoever thought to include pre 95 wbo & the IBO really fucked this whole exercise up.

Francesco Damiani, Brian Neilson, Danell Nicholson & Jimmy Thunder heavyweight champions?:atu:

Lee Savold was recognized as Heavyweight Champion in Britain by the British Board of Control after beating Bruce Woodcock in June 1950 after Louis' retirement, and even the British didn't take that seriously.

A comebacking Louis destroyed him in June 1951, after his loss to Ezzard Charles and before his fateful meeting with Rocky Marciano that ended his fantastic, unequaled ring career.

But Lee (managed by Bill Daly and co-trained by Lou Duva) was a good, game, hard fighter who fought 'em all, twice.

Ironically, Marciano also ended Savold's career as well by dishing out a brutal beating to the big man.

Damn, only 81. I'm embarrassed. Once I got to the 80's and the 15 different belts I just blanked out. Got everybody but Savold up to Witherspoon and then blanked out after that except for the obvious ones.

Blah, 95. Wasted a lot of time spelling Ibragimov and Liakovich. Pretty pissed off that I missed Marvin Hart and Max Baer.

Missed some of the obvious ones that have already been named. For some reason, I couldn't remember Herbie Hide. I could picture Bowe kicking his ass and I knew he was the WBO champion I was looking for, but the name wouldn't come to me.

I'm waiting for Panchy to claim that Jose "King" Roman was the PRBC world champion but then lost his title in a unification against Foreman.

Out of curiosity...did you know about Lee Savold or did you see his name here before taking the test? If you did know, I am impressed. I figured only dorks like me would know that one.

What's sad is that it is easier to list the champs from the beginning of the heavyweight division than it is to list all of the title claimants of the last 20 years.

    Big Lee Savold

    Joe:

You are not a dork, you are a boxing historian.

Lee was British Empire Heavyweight Champion after he put Bruce Woodcock on ice.

Britain (The Regulatory Board Governing Professional Boxing) decided to crown him as Heavyweight Champion based on that feat, which was no gimme as Woodcock was a fair banger.

But Heavyweight Champion of the World?

    No way.

Lee was a good banger and a damn good fighter, a "cutie" who was very adept at spinning and turning a fella around the ring, but he was not Champion material (no disrespect to his family) IMO.

I scored 110. The only ones I missed were Savold, Lyakovich and Nicholson.
