If JMM moved up to 147 tomorrow and matched up against Berto, I'm taking JMM in that fight. So there's your answer. I don't think much of Berto. Also I thought JMM's last fight was at 140 or he said he was moving up to 140 or something like that. Either way he was headed there anyway or just fought there (I forget which) so what's the problem.

Yeah, Floyd will have a size advantage, but that didn't mean that much when everyone thought Paquiao-ODLH was a huge mismatch in ODLH's favor did it?

Mayweather vs. Marquez at 140-147....will look like Mayweather vs. Genaro Hernandez.....

Berto would have been a much tougher matchup....for Mayweather...Berto speed/aggressiveness would have mesh better w/ Mayweather defense/boxing skills....and it would prepare Maywether for a future fight vs. MOSLEY.....

yeah but then PBF would have to fight a welterweight (nevermind that he is a welterweight).

in any case, i think JMM, at least at 135 and below, is a much faster and harder puncher than Genero ever was. and definitely more talented and a bigger heart.

Marquez is a lot better fighter than Genaro..no doubt about it...but if he fights Mayweather at 140-147 he will lose...and get made to quit...or get KTFO...

What will be incredible is how Mayweather fans will try to make Mayweather victory over Marquez sound like some great super hero accomplishment....."Marquez had never been dominated like that before"..."at worst Marquez was top #3 p4p in the world"...."Marquez was in his prime coming off great victories vs. Baby Bull Diaz and Joel Casamayor"..etc...etc...

a few months-years will go by..and they will look back and say...."Mayweather had a big money fight vs. Marquez....thats why he didn't fight Mosley/Cotto...".."It doesn't make economic sense for Mayweather to fight Mosley, when he could fight Marquez for the same $$$, plus everyone wanted to see the Marquez fight..Cotto was coming off a defeat, and Mosley didn't want to fight Mayweather..."..etc..etc..

This is ridiculous. I was a Mayweather fan but this is tiring. He wants to be a Welterweight but only fight Lightweights while he's there.

    Marquez called him out?

Who gives a fuck? Guys like De La Hoya and Gatti used to have anybody and everybody around their divisions calling them out on a regular basis because of the money involved.

This is Marquez's cash-out fight if he gets it.

You can accuse alot of fighters of taking on smaller opponents who are were superstars to make money. Hops with Oscar, Hagler with Ray, Hearns, Duran ect... De la with Manny, De la with Floyd the list goes on and on with guys fighting smaller bigger attractions for more money. Floyd is the only guy who gets critizised for it though. Everbody else gets passes.

yes De La Hoya was not criticized for fighting Pacquiao.... ...if Mayweather wants to fight smaller guys he needs to campaign at 135 or 140....why fight at 147 when he does not want to fight Cotto,Mosley,Margarito,Cintron,Clottey,Berto or any of the top 5-6 guys in the division...

Mayweather will make more money fighting Marquez...than fighting Mosley or Cotto?? Nah.....:nono:

No it's not. Nobody will say shit of Cotto or Shane fight Manny next. If Floyd fights Manny people will complain hes fighting little Pac.

He will make more then fighting Shane thats for sure. Cotto is debatable.

how u figure? what? Marquez is a bigger name than Mosley/Cotto now??.....a few years ago he was a complete nobody that even mexican didn't care for him...now he fight Pac a few times..and he is some kinda big star?

Mayweather will make more money from the contract split vs. Marquez..i guess...but when u add in ppv's Mosley is still a much bigger name than Marquez...

    and Cotto is not debatable...

there is always something to excuse what Mayweather is doing.....He can always make more money fighting the lesser fighter.....in reality his a bitch, who finds way to NOT fight guys that matter at 147.....

He is bigger then Shane thats not debateable. When Shane is Batman they can't even give away tickets for his fights. When he is Robin he does great.

Cotto is a bigger draw then Marquez. I don't know why i put debateable. I don't even drink or smoke so i don't even have an excuse of being drunk or high when i typed that.

Marquez is not even close to a bigger draw than Mosley or Cotto. That is straight up bullshit. Post some numbers to back it up. Look back at the Chris John fight. 30K to fly to indonesia and lose? lol Yeah, he's a big draw.

what type of numbers did Marquez vs. Casamayor generate?? was that on ppv?....Marquez has always been Robin to Pacquiao Batman...:dunno:

100K is what I found, the worst numbers of all HBO PPV's in 2008.

    What awesome drawing power

When has Shane done anything as Batman? When hes fighting Oscar/Antonio or Cotto it sells out but against a decent draw in Mayorga they couldn't even give tickets away to people.

I've said this about JMM in the past and I'll say it again.

JMM couldn't draw flies if he were made out of :shit:

everyone was saying that....and it's true...just cause JMM is fighting Mayweather doesn't change that fact...

i would have prefer Mayweather vs. Pac......

Money vs. JMM does not interest me one bit....definitely won't be buying that fucking PPV....

If it's not on PPV...then for sure Marquez dosn't bring Mayweather more money than fighting MOsley....

Mosley vs. Mayweather would be a PPV fight...without a fucking doubt....are u saying May vs. JMM is not gonna be on ppv?

People, it's Floyd's come back fight. Also, JMM and Pacquiao have shown themselves to be so close to equal that people are still debating to death who was actually the winner in both of their fights. So going by that is it not too much to assume that JMM will be okay fight at 140 and possibly even at 147 seeing as how Pac adjusted so well?

I know everyone isn't the same, but Floyd himself isn't a true welter nor is he a big welter as he showed fighting lackluster against Oscar. I think JMM-Floyd will be pretty evenly fought especially if it's at 140.

I'll give Floyd this (possibly) easy match as his comeback fight but after that he has to step it up, or I'll be the first to criticize him.

I give JMM props for wanting to fight Floyd but the weight issue will be too much.

Floyd wants no more than 147, JMM wants 140 but said he is willing to do 143 or 144 which to me is the same as giving into 147

I think the Juan Diaz fight show how much JMM has slipped. I hope he can get a pretty good payday for this one if it happens.

step it up vs. what? another lightweight...like Pacquiao?...there is no excuse for him not to be fighting the likes of Mosley, Cotto-Clottey winner.....the field has been trim for Mayweather to pick now...a few years ago it was a much thicker field...w/ Williams,Margarito,Cintron...

Dude, he's been off for more than a year. Most anyone else would be allowed a comeback fight in the same situation.

Now normally I wouldn't be like RJJP4P and claim Floyd is being treated differently from other boxers, but if you guys are honestly going to sit here and tell me he should be coming straight back against the Mosley's, Cotto's, etc of the 147lb division after a year+ off and no tuneup, then I'm going to have to pull the "you're a hater" card and obviously not being fair to the guy.

Bitch if you want about the JMM weight issue, I can understand that, but at least acknowledge dude deserves a tuneup.
