Liddell is far from a never was hype job. He's got a lot of wins over some pretty good fighters on his record. He just got old, his skills fell off, and his style stayed the same while the sport evolved.

Cote and Leites were completely out of their league and OUTCLASSED. In order to generate huge ppv numbers and MOTIVATE Silva with a respectable opponent, GSP has to move up in weight and challenge Anderson at 185.

GSP beating Alves will have cleaned out his division. Silva will have a formidable opponent and the matchup will pair two of the top three best and SMARTEST fighters in the world.

If Silva has to fight someone from outside his division, I'd rather he fought at 205 instead of having someone from 170 jump up to fight him. There's a ton of talent at 205 to motivate him.

I would rather see Silva move up in weight.I'm tired of seeing him fight smaller fighters. If he's the "greatest p4p fighter in the world" then its time for him to raise the bar which IMO he hasn't yet.

I agree, thats a pretty stacked weight class in the UFC and it would be nice to see how he does against fighters bigger than himself for a change.

I agreed as well but if Silva were to have one last fight before moving up, a matchup against GSP would be huge.

I just hope the terrible main event didn't kill Montreal as a town for UFC. Obviously they're always gonna come out to see GSP, but who knows if they'll pack the place for a non GSP main event next time out.

Those that are blaming Chuck's losses on his age need to wake up. Sure, he's getting old. However, his last four losses have less to do with his age and more to do with his piss poor boxing technique. We all know MMA is evolving, and that means the fighters are getting better with their striking. Liddell leaves his guard down and is getting countered because he throws stupid shots. Guys like Couture, Tito, and Babalu couldn't exploit this. Now, his blatantly obvious flaws in boxing technique have caught up with him.

It is a combination of the two. Anyone who has watched Chuck over the years can see that he has lost a step. Hes reflexes aren't what they used to be and he is nowhere near as quick as he used to be. He is almost 40 years old, hes done.

Because they've already done a card in Montreal and they could have got the same numbers in other cities.

If I'm Dana White, I'd propose Anderson Silva with an opportunity to fight the winner of Evans/Machida for the 205 title. 185 is completely dead! And GSP is far too small to come up to meet Anderson Silva. Silva needs to step up to 205 with bigger and better fighters.

Hmm, interesting question. Almost a cross between the 2 actually.

But on a cockney >>>>> south london homeboy scale, he's not quite in the middle, probably veering a bit more towards cockney than homeboy.

yeah, i'm sure Dana has proposed ideas like that before...Silva just wants to win, 175 is his weight, and he knows that is where he is at his most effective. You saw last night, he could have challenged himself to get that guy out of there, or at least put on a better show by being a little more aggressive....but didn't want to take the risk.

.....Silva weighed 172 last night which lead Rogan to suggest that he may be able to make 160 to fight GSP!....there is no way Silva can shed 12lbs off his skinny body.....perhaps, they could do a catchweight though....has that ever been done in the UFC?....obviously it would make it non-title, but no doubt UFC could bill it as a fight for the p4p title

Machida will humiliate Evans and Silva said he won't fight Machida because they are good freinds.

Hopefully Alves can beat GSP and move up to fight Anderson. Nobody at 185 has the stand up skills to compete with Anderson right now.

If Silva is going to stay at 185 I want to see him fight Damian Maia. While Silva is way better standing, he would be facing a BJJ guy who is pretty good at getting the fight to the groundl Not like that bullshit Leites was doing last night.

I think for the first or second time ever GSP will fight a bigger guy than him in Thiago Alves. The other perhaps was Fitch.

I think Dana will allow Silva to jump weight divisions as he pleases and perhaps he will do the same to GSP, who is less willing to be jumping back and forth. IF GSP moves up to fight Silva, he will have a harder time coming back down to 170.

Silva and GSP makes $$$$ sense. Silva, regardless of the outcome could then test the waters at light heavy again.

How do you like these matchups?

Silva-current champ Evans, Silva-Griffin, Silva-Rampage Jackson, There 3 MAIN events right there.

Call me crazy, but I think Alves is gonna throw a huge monkey wrench in any GSP\Silva plans.
