Oh please, my stomach is turning reading your posts Your hero got his ass handed to him by Jones and when he was still good, he got his ass handed to him by Hopkins and Wright... he wasnt in either fight, he got manhandled and he got the biggest lucky break of all time when Hoya decided he'd won the fight and just danced for three rounds Fuck Trinidad, at best Puerto Rico's FOURTH best fighter
I have nothing against Trinidad, I just hate his fans and everyone who tries to act like he is anywhere near as good as Ortiz, Gomez, Benitez
I don't care where you rank him. All I know is what I saw in that fight. Tito put on a respectable performance, I would dare to say great performance considering the long layoff the his opponent. Young or old Roy's speed hasn't really diminished, only his confidence in his chin. C
"winning" 2 rounds and then getting your ass clowned for 10 rounds is a "GREAT PERFORMANCE"? you're a lunatic Roy Jones bares almost no resemblance to what he once was Trinidad looked like a mildly slower version of the brainless robot he has always been
I'm a fan. I know all of that. You just come across as the "Don't overrate Tito" police nowadays. :: Apart from Cupey who jokingly overrate him, I don't see a lot of Trinidad groupies around anymore. Hopkins kills him again BTW.
RJJ didn't do shit before the knock-down. When you fight such that your opponent doesn't do shit, you're out-boxing him. And that's what Trinidad did prior to getting knocked down. He lost a lot of confidence after the knock-down because it was a shot he didn't see coming. And the rest is history. And RJJ didn't look particularly good in that fight, all things considered. Trinidad is a much better boxer than he's given credit for. Nevertheless, his performances prior to the Hopkins loss are like night and day compared to those following it. He was especially uneffective against Wright. It might be the hand-wraps. It might be a loss of desire. It might be a loss of confidence. Or it could be a combination of both. My guess is though that the most important wins of his career were won with illegally wrapped hands. That's just my opinion, having watched his fights carefully prior to the Hopkins fight and after.
Maybe that has more to do with the fact most posters here are in their 20's and haven't the knowledge you have of boxing history? Ortiz, Gomez and Benitez fought when most of them were toddlers or not even born. I don't know, it is my hypothesis, because apart from Hex One and Cupey, there isn't a lot of regular posters who are still enamoured with Tito.
Montell Griffin "OutBoxed" Roy for Large Portions of their 1st Fight...Eric Harding "OutBoxed" Roy in Spots of theirs...Ditto for Tarver During Parts of their 1st Fight... Tito Trinidad DID NOT...That's NOT to Say that Roy was BEATING Tito Early (Because he WASN'T), but Tito WAS NOT "OutBoxing" Roy, Unless U're about to INVENT a Definition for it... REED:hammert:
Won't happen. This is simply just a schtick to get other fighters to accept whatever is offered. "Sure, I'm only making 400,000, but he can drop me on a dime and make more fighting someone else. I HAVE to take this fight."
I remember when Tito first retired most people were happy to see him retire with money and with a decent carreer. Now he is slowly tarnishing his record coming back time after time just to get his ass kicked. I know the rematch with Hopkins won't happen but his just shows that Tito will likely come back with another oponent and won't retire for a while.
You think that's bad, I just read Hector Camacho and Yori Boy Campas are fighting next month...on Pay Per View. http://www.trumptaj.com/entertainment-clubs/index.cfm?eventId=EV_20090416124502228037
Well you are wrong. I am a big Trinidad fan, but I voted for Wilfredo Gomez in that poll. Most of the people that voted for Trinidad are not vocal Trinidad fans, but uninformed boxing fans.
On Camacho's behalf I'll say this: for a 46 year old boxer who should be retired after his DLH defeat in 1997, he continued fighting and winning until 2003 when he lost a Technical Decision to Chris Walsh and hasn't lost again since. Only 5 defeats in 86 bouts. Campas is younger and stronger, but has been punished more than Camacho. If the Macho Man still has any gas left in the tank he will beat Campas and maybe even stop him by mid rounds.
what am I wrong about? That Trinidad is the most overrated fighter of the last 20 years? Im not wrong about that one bit
Easily. Tito is not even an great fighter. At best, he is just good. I can't think of a fighter with more rabid, homosexual fans who accomplished less. He was dominated against ever single A level fighter he fought, including DLH. Tito was uncompetetive against the best. Period and that is an indisputable fact.
About assuming that there are a lot of Trinidad groupies here thus your comment about the "Best Puertorican fighter ever' poll. And wrong again, Trinidad is not overrated. You just don't accept other opinions different than yours regarding Trinidad.:nono:

LOL at Tito. All he's done the last several years is retire, get beat up, and retire again. Rinse, repeat.
