Rumor has it that a press conference will be called on the day of Pacquiao-Hatton to announce the highly expected return form retirement of Floyd Mayweather Jr. WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez has been mentioned as a possible opponent for Floyd. It has also been confirmed that Mayweather Jr. and promoter Don King could join forces in Floyd’s return.

 Rican please...Marquez/Pacquiao might get it...at 147....but Cotto/Mosley/Clottey/Margarito and the other 147 have nothing to fear from Mayweather, cause he won't get in the ring w/ them...

Hopefully he will because he will beat all four, he might lose to P.Williams though.

Yeah but then was KO'd in 1.
Paul has made very good improvements...he looks like a solid fighter, i know it was only a couple fights ago but he has come along way since the loss.

I wouldnt pay too much mind to his ko win over Carlos Quintana. Anyone can get caught. I personally think that was some bullshit fluke. PBF is on a whole different level than all these fighters.

Well, don't get me wrong, I think a 12 round dominant win is more impressive than a short 1 eround KO, you are right anyone can get caught especially early.
But thats not what I am on about, Williams looks alot better since those fights, he owuld give anyone a tough fight, especially someone defensive minded.

Good point. Although PBF and Quintana have different styles P.Williams is easy to hit.

Not to make everything a conspiracy/coverup like Petre....

but Mayweather didn't return to boxing...until Cotto was pounded into defeat...Margarito was destroyed by Mosley...and Paul Williams moved up to 154-160&look like he can't make 147 w/out killing himself...

i dont care much to see mayweather vs marquez. however, they were only 4 pounds apart in weight from 96 up to 2002.

I am a big Mayweather fan, but at his age and burning back down to jr. welter to fight Marquez, it is a possiblity he may encounter physical difficulties the likes of which he hasn't experienced before, and could wind up like Oscar did against Pacquiao, and Jones did against Tarver.

With that scenario being mentioned, I think can beat Marquez pretty much with just his left hand, regardless of what weight it is at.

Pacquiao would beat Mayweather with relative ease.

Mayweather wouldn't drop to 140. It might be mid-way between jr. welter and welter but he's not going to drop that far down.

Currently Mayweather is irrelevant, and Pacquiao is p4p the best to be contested next weekend.

Truth.

Floyd can call as many press conferences as he likes but as it stands now, he's completely irrelevant.
