It seems like HBO is trying some things to improve their broadcasts...with the new "Punch Zone" display...which is sort of a take off on the strike zone feature in baseball, showing where punches land...it also seems like they're now consistently showing video packages for fighters now before/during the ring entrances.

It doesn't make up for their commentators, but still, at least there's some effort.

Of course, but on the other hand, it can't be Marquez-Diaz every broadcast...and even before tonight, I thought they were right to let Taylor walk to Showtime (and should've done so for Taylor-Lacy).

We'll see what Lopez and Peterson have in the future...hopefully they face tougher tests next time out.

Now, what they've got coming up with Dawson-Tarver and Berto-Urango...pretty poor, IMO.

Absolute garbage card from HBO tonight! Worse card from them in a while. Penalosa was completely outclassed and never in the fight to begin with.

They are simply promoting their house fighters. Acccording to them JMM, Pacquiao and Campbell are the elite at 140, when none of them has even fought at 140 at this point.

You don't hear commentary when you go to fights in person, if you don't like what you are hearing, simply turn the volume off.

Never mind that nonsense. They need to set up better fights. Last night was putrid. HBO used to be the standard the industry aspired to become. Last night was a tricked out FNF.

    That's new for them?

Frankly, I didn't see much difference between this card and their last one.

Because they know nothing about boxing. Kellerman probably got a boner talking about slick french amateur superstar Willy Blain, while talking down the awkward white boy from England Car Froch. That they approved Peterson/Blain over Taylor/Froch is ridiculous.:shit:

HBO has sucked for 2 years. I agree. Last night card was easily one of the bottom 3 all time on HBO. Green/Deleon was slightly better on paper than HBO main event.

I want to hear the punches land, and also I want to hear the crowd.

Watching this with the sound on and off, it isn't the same.

Showtime's new play-by-play guy is a hack. What happened to Steve Albert?

REED Likes his ENTHUSIASM, but Dude Clearly Needs to Brush Up on his Boxing Knowledge...He's Similar to FNF's Joe Tessitore, Only Tessitore Knows MORE about Boxing than this Guy Does...

He's the Same Guy that Did the CBS Televised MMA Bouts (Kimbo Slice, Gina Carano, etc.)...

But then you miss out on the sounds of punches connecting etc. I generally just ignore the commentary if it's crap.

REED HEARS the Commentary but Doesn't PROCESS It...Other than the Fight Itself, REED's Only Processing the btwn Rounds Instructions...
