There should be zero hype to Froch. I'd actually pick Allan Green to beat him. Hell, the skillless and still very slopping fighting Taylor lost basically because a lucky punch landed. Where would Froch be if Taylor was a bit more durable or that punch didn't land? Going to the score cards for a split decision loss is where. Only reason he beat Taylor was the size and strength difference coupled with Taylor's lack of being able to figure out the same combination being thrown in his face for the whole fight. A jab followed by a straight right.

Allan Green has some real skills and would beat Froch the way Taylor couldn't.

I knew you'd bring up Ottke.
That was Mundine's 10th fight EVER (no amateur background), in Ottke's backyard with a disgraceful ref.
He still gave the undefeated Ottke a one of his toughest fights.

...Ah, fuck it-I'm not going to stick up for that dick-head. He is a B level fighter, you're right.

:crafty: Reed please, thank you for the oppurtunity,... Speaking of second half of fights,...how much of a fight,.......

..................... did the awesome strict counter-puncher, Bernard Hopkins put up?... The awesome Hopkins who never stands legally square and participates in a fight against anyone, and he PREYS, absolutely preys on lefties who walk towards him,.. how did Hops do?... Would you have forgiven Kessler for flopping to the floor a couple of times like a heartless bitch?...Hopkins pulled that fight into the mud,..and Joe Cortez held his hand and guided our beloved Hops over the finish line,..'clinch' ...slowly seperates them...''come on Bernard, not long now'' he whispers,.. CLINCH...like a rubber band,... it was revolting,.. thoroughly disgusting.. but how quick are we all to forget?..

:nono: Kessler won the last round against Calzaghe by the way... a 'CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND!!!', as defined by most Hopkins groupies.

    :dunno:

It was kinda poor taste that he gave Mundine a full ten count, when he was knocked out cold, but that didn´t really change the outcome of the fight.

Froch is horrible. He might beat that coward choke artist Allan Greene. I THINK HE MAY BEAT Andrade. Butte would probably win and Kessler would murder anyone at 168 and I wish he would go ahead and do it. Froch would die against Kessler and lol calling out Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe would humiliate him.

I hope all the Jerman Taylor over Kessler people have been silenced.

Kessler appears to be locked up in promotional strife with Palle, the latter looks prepared to keep him on ice (pretty much at least) for the foreseeable future...we may never see Kessler establish himself again, fulfil his potential

What is going on? Kessler has the potential to be a hall of famer and a rich man. Why is Palle icing him?

As far as I know, Kessler wasn't over-enthusiastic about extending his contract with the promoter beyond the already agreed end-date (sometime in 2010) so Palle may be adding pressure on him to re-sign by putting him on ice otherwise, old story ...maybe someone else here can elaborate

Yeah it sucks. Palle already ruined Larsen´s career. He lost the controversial decision to Ottke, comes back four weeks later and destroys Häussler for the European title and is never seen again till four years later.

yeah, well i stand by what i said.....i have Froch at #2....it is a competitive division though....i think vs Bute is 50-50, and i'd pick him against Andrade or Green......Kessler beats him, but i would say Froch would be a live underdog

Yeah. That was truly disgusting. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Along with the point deduction for the "Head-but". The whole fight contained some of the most biased officiating I've ever seen in a boxing match.

Having said that, the best man did win on the night. Mundine was inexperienced & wore himself out, dancing around. Lot's of nervous energy.
Ottke Fought smart & was the effective aggressor.

Maybe I understimated Froch a bit, regarding his accuracey,.. he does have a strange knack of hitting the button, despite his awkward robotic stance and slow hands,... but defensively.. well?, he'll be knocked out within his next 3 fights... no doubt about it.

slappy and froch make it seem like we don't know how to train boxers in england. to call froch's stand upright, square-on in front of your opponent throwing punches from your waist-style "amateurish" would be an insult to amateurs. more like a "beginner's" style, like that first week in the gym when you don't know what you're doing and just swinging your arms at some fat kid with glasses, before the coach comes walking over saying: "calm down. you need to learn how to punch first, knob-end."

Just watched the last round. You gotta love Frochs heart and determination. The guy is always coming forward and that is exciting to watch.

    Congrats to Froch ! :hammert:

It's the first and last time Froch will probably ever be impressive, just for those 3 desperate minutes alone,.. in the same way Shannon Briggs was only ever impressive in his 12th round against Liakovich,... Froch's accuracey in that last round was uncanny,.. watching slow motion of the sequences, he hit Taylor with virtually every fucking thing he threw,... you got lucky,.. you're Irish, you just have to be racist.

And yet he had a fairly successful ammy career. 'Slappy', on the other hand, went on to be one of the best handful of fighters in the world. Go figure...

It really is a great shame,.. that it took a combination of his 3rd and 2nd last fight to show us how good he really is,.. A master-boxer, tactition, durable, athletic, versatile, accurate, could fight backwards, but mostly fought forwards, and he operated on a 100 punch per round engine,.. ... what a waste of a whole career,.. I mean yeah,.. I know Hopkins was this larger fighter who sat on mandatories in a weight division below him for his entire career and that is not considered a waste,..and he also turned Calzaghe down,.. but you know... tough luck, Calzaghe had to do a little extra to break free of the double standards, and two wrongs in a way, dont make a right.

Froch will lose 2-3 out of his next 5 fights if his next 5 fights are Kessler, Green, Bute, Andrade, and a rematch with Taylor. I think Mundine/Froch is a pickem as well.

Froch dominates fuck all. He didn't even win that fight last night - Jermain's shitty stamina presented it to him. For the first 5 rounds he was being absolutely schooled and ass raped and basically looked like a clumsy, jittery 10 fight novice.

Froch is a strong guy with some good natural ability & timing. That's it.

*edit* I should also mention that he's one of the most irritating fighters to watch I've ever seen in all my years of following the sport, with all the RJJ-esque foot stomping and arm shaking and shoulder shrugging and exaggerated, demonstrative quarter turns. RJJ could just about get away with that shit at his best, because well, he was RJJ. It just makes a -B level fighter like Froch look like an absolute bell end.
