A Head to Head Matchup would've Been VERY Hard to Handicap, but REED Thinks Manny Pac is ALREADY Better/Greater than Azumah, HISTORICALLY...REED is Actually SURPRISED that the Early Sentiment is Swaying Towards the Professor...

In fear of severe retaliations, I'll wait for Jaws' answer before giving mine.

Pac right now. The Professor was great to watch, but Pac has gone through more weight divisions winning belts although I can't think of anyone Pac has fought who would compare to Salvador Sanchez or Pernell Whitaker.

I think we have to wait til the end of Manny's career. Azumah was on the skids near the end and maybe should have retired sooner (and I'm not including the farce last year with Fenech).

Well, seeing this is Jaws I would go with Manny Pac.

Azumah, fought before the onset of HD TV. All those guys who fought before High Definition Television were skill-less sloppy bums. The cameras were just speeded up to make them look faster.

Plus, we've evolved as humans since then.

Oh yeah............Jesse Owens sucks. Michael Phelps would beat him in a foot race.

Uh, oh. Looks like Jaws was reading the Sanchez-Pac match up in the MM and is preparing another one of his subtle (in his mind anyway) thread stalking attacks on me.

And before he tries to misquote me and claim I said Nelson was greater, or would KO Pac in the first, or whatever other gross misrepresentation of what I said he has bouncing around in his overactive imagination, what I actually said was...

"I don't know that I would consider Nelson inferior to Pacquiao."

Damn me and my anti-Pac sentiments!

I definitely think a head to head match up would be a very close fight and could go either way.

I think MAB, Morales and JMM balance out Sanchez. As for Whitaker, you're right - he hasn't faced anyone like him that I know of and maybe never will.

This is a fair answer. And to also be fair, Nelson wasn't stopped twice in the 3rd round during his career.

Pacquiao, but not by much, he has certainly achieved more. Even if Hatton batters him, Manny deserves a fuckload of praise for moving up so many divisions and being not just competitive, but in some cases dominant. Midgets CAN fight, and he was the first to step into the general publics attention.

Pac is historically greater no doubt. To win against a HOFer at welterweight after winning a title at flyweight is a unique achievement in boxing history. Who was better at featherweight/superfeatherweight would be a much more debatable point.

The question is an easy one and the answer isn't Azumah Nelson.

Prime Nelson would had slowly dismantle Pacquiao's limited boxing skills and KO him silly in the later rounds.

Thats what a lot of people thought would happen in the first Barrera fight.

Also Manny has improved a lot since then.

Prime Nelson never beat a fighter as good as any post 2003 version of Pacquiao. Not one time.

Manny has multiple wins over guys who are comparable to a prime Nelson.

lets be clear, Pacquiao and Nelson fight nothing alike.

So lets go beyond that and examine that someone who claims to be "indifferent and objective" about Pacquiao thinks this is a toss up comparison.

There's no evidence to suggest Nelson was better in any sense.

    Jaws, you are fucking gay

    Pac man is definitley GREATER

but Nelson and Pacquaio would be a tremendous matchup

what BWJ was clearly saying (to anyone who can read and isnt trying to find a reason to start something) is that Nelson isnt some inferior slouch of a fighter... he could DEFINITLEY hang with Pac-Man in the ring... Pac is greater because he accomplished more... but that doesnt mean he just kills Nelson, and that is what BWJ was getting at, which again is clear to anyone who isnt trying to start a pissing contest
