Actually I don't know why that slipped my mind. He is sort of the OPPOSITE of Pavlik (who is almost too calm and relaxed).

That must be a huge contributor to his stamina. He is just so jittery, constantly burning energy needlessly.

I haven't watched the fight yet but my opinion of Taylor has not changed. He is a very average fighter that some how managed two W's against a legend.

Double, to be fair, not really, because your point no longer stands.

You point goes from being "He's got a win over Wright" to "He could only manage a draw against an aging junior middleweight Wright".

I have always thought Taylor was easy to root for but painful to watch. BUT , he can still make some nice coin for a few more years if he wants to. Especially if he wants to go to Europe to fight. Just depends on what is important to him at this point of his career. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Froch again, but I don't think Froch will. I would also like to see him fight Green. Its an interesting matchup and cleans one of them out of the division as a contender.

AgREED, it's easy to like Taylor but he's a limited fighter. Still wish him the best though.

I've been a Jermain Taylor basher from day one and no one was more thrilled than I to see him get drilled by Pavlik.

    "However"

The vast majority of my distaste came from the ridiculous shilling HBO did for the guy. My opinion changed when he INSISTED on an immediate rematch with Pavlik. Showed he was a true fighter.

Plus, he was dead even on my scorecard going into the 11th round. He got hit with a bodyshot which changed the fight and Pavlik won 7-5 on my scorecard. Much respect to fight that well coming off such a bad KO.

As far as the Froch fight...

Kudos to jermain. he fought his ass off but I will say this. The loss goes back to something I've always said about the guy. When you don't learn how to parry punches and solely rely on covering up and going straight back as your ONLY defense. Guys will figure out a way to get to you.

Taylor got knocked out due to the same reasons he was able to beat up on Junior middleweights...Froch was simply the stronger man.

Jermain is a tough son of a bitch though. I couldn't BELIEVE he got up from that knockdown let alone having the instinct to try to fight back. Plus, he got hit with harder shots after the KO but his legs wouldn't allow him to fall.

I hope he hangs up the gloves. The last flurry of shots he took were the career ending kind. I think we'll look back on this fight as the one to ruin the guy similar to how the first Golota fight ruined Bowe.

I don't want to see Jermain end up like Bowe. Even when I disliked the BS praise he received from HBO, I always thought he was a good dude.

Letting our beloved Hops off the hook again to bash Jermaine Taylor I see,.. it's funny we never considered size differences in the middleweight division until the 'legend' who is bigger than any noteable SUPERMIDDLEWEIGHT in the world, bitterly left, and when Hops fought former welterweights, it was in 'SUPERFIGHTS' ...

Pathetic. The cancer escapes detection again and we wonder why the sport is dying.

Hopkins is NOT above scrutiny...this is about Jermain. have you seen some of my past rants on Golden Snaggletooth?

Speaking of which...are the reports of a Trinidad rematch real?

Im not sure about the Trinidad rematch, but since Hopkins is the peoples champion I wouldnt be suprised if he gave us all one last treat.

Hopkins get no free ride from me...his best win against a middleweight was the Pavlik fight which wasn't AT middleweight.

I give him credit for the Tarver fight simply because Tarver was a legit light heavy.

    Agreed with everything you said.

Jermain has always been mentally tough in the ring, even if his chin isnt great. And he's always had a fighters' heart. His problems have always been that he never put his skills and technique together, never learned how to defend or pace himself... and overall just wasnt blessed with a very high boxing IQ.

Also, the "jermain is athletic" line...can we retire that? I forget which fight but they did a feature with he and his wife playing basketball...Jermain looked AWFUL. Absolutely no coordination.

    Was embarassing.

This is true also. Taylor has fast hands, but he's not extremely athletic. Above average athletic yes, but not an exceptionally athletic fighter like Roy, Shane, Floyd, Pacman, Dawson.... or even Calzaghe to an extent.

Yep. Most of it probably stems from his body type. Because he always looks in great physical condition he's supposedly a superb athlete. Taylor has more of an athlete's body than talent.

A big part of athletic ability is fluidity and making things appear natural that you can never teach people.

    Jermain never had that.

I've never been a fan of Taylor's but I've come to respect him. It's not his fault he was overhyped. He has fought some quality fighters and given a good account of himself for the most part.

Lok please, Jermaine would never flush billions of litres of fresh water into the ocean all because suburbian men in thier early 30's need to bust out of the basement and screech thier wheels beside the local high school each recess,.. I'm afraid Jermaine's interests will instead lead him to be nestling his fingers under knuckle pecking warm feathers, collecting prophits from his personal hatchery, the creepy misfits who frequent the carwash, are more of a talking point at the port of fare on Roy's veranda.
