The fight is already listed on boxrec.

If Mayweather wins what does it do for his career? Not much IMO.

If Marquez wins what does it do for his career? A lot, even if Mayweather was retired for a while.

Mayweather will get picked on because he takes on a smaller man but he's the one with something to lose in this fight. This fight might only make sense money wise for him. Even though he has to be the clear favourite, he's still facing a guy that has a better skillset than about everyone he faced until today and a guy that proved he can knock out pretty solid lightweights. Marquez is a very very solid fighter who's been active in the last two years. I don't think this fight is as much a joke as the haters will pretend (and I don't like Floyd one bit). Personally, I'll watch... (I'm a Marquez fan though, I have to admit that...)

If Marquez wins he's bigger than Jesus.

I just don't see it happening though.

Marquez is already bigger than Jesus, just like he's bigger than other mythological entities like Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy.

When I was a small child I once woke up early on Christmas morning and Juan Manuel Marquez and his brother Raffy were leaving presents under the Christmas tree.

Coincidentally, the police showed up later in the day and my parents told me we had been robbed by two Mexicans.

............but I know what I saw!

There is no if Marquez wins. The only drama is how impressive Floyd looks. Easy fight for Floyd.

Wow, I can't believe you guys are selling off on Marquez like that!!! If JMM is a huge underdog because of similar thinkers as yourselves I plan on putting a nice bet down.

While I agree that Floyd should obviously be the clear favourite, there's no such things as a given in boxing. Yeah, I know that's a cliche fans use to support their favourite in a desperate cause but I think Marquez showed a lot in his wins over Diaz and Casamayor. Considering Floyd hasn't fought for almost 2 years, I think Marquez can make it interesting. I see your point though, if Floyd hadn't retired, I don't know if I would even bother watching it, I hate to see my favourites get battered in an uphill battle. I guess that's most probably what will happen but I have a bit of hope, Marquez is a hell of a technician. I speak with my heart though, don't see that as an objective take, it isn't one.

Marquez is a great fighter. His success is because he is the most skilled in the ring. In this case, he will be smaller and less skilled. I hope he knocks out Floyd. I have always been a defender of little Floyd's skill, but I think is a cocksucker. I hope he decapitated by Marquez; he won't though.

I thought that Marquez had initialled rejected that fight because it would give Floyd weight advantage. So Marquez is now willing to fight at welter weight? Oh, the almighty dollar and the marvels it does on people's decisions!

35 year-old Marquez was fighting at Super Featherweight 1 year ago.

Really, this is a ridiculous gimmick of a fight. I can't believe anyone believes otherwise.

This will be ugly. At 147 Mayweather will toy with him and cut him to shreds. It won't even be competitive.

Is this gonna be at welterweight? If so Im sorry to say it's a mismatch and Floyd is a fucking bitch.

Yep. Even if you go as far as to say their skill levels are equal, Floyd still has the edge in size and more importantly hand speed.

If Marquez last the distance and doesn't get dominated it would be an accomplishment.

The fight will be at 143.

"I am not wasting any time with a tune-up fight," said Mayweather. "I'm going straight to the top. Marquez called me out immediately after his victory over Juan Diaz in February and now he gets his wish. What he is going to find out is that you should be very careful what you wish for."

At least it's better than Mayweather vs. Spinks........Floyd didn't give us much of an option....

At 143 this is slightly interesting. Mayweather is a massive, massive favourite but it isn't a total farce as it was at 14y7

Is it me or does it look in that pic like there's more of a size difference between Floyd and Oscar than Floyd and Juan? :)

Jee gad the press conference was embarrassing. What's a sensible person like Marquez jto do with such an overgrown man-child? He didn't have the first clue and who would? Floyd seriously needs a fucking bullet in his brain.

Bullshit fight. I agree with Hut Hut though, Floyd is NOT more skilled than Marquez, just bigger, stronger, faster and younger, and almost as skilled.
