Nope. He actually used to jab his way in to setup the right hand and especially the left to the liver. Watch the Thaxton fight, the Pendleton fight, Krivolapov etc...He definitely doesnt fight the way he used to.

He holds WAY more than he used to, and is boring/frustrating to watch now, but I've seen hatton fight since he was a novice, and he's often leapt in with his shots, especially the leaping left hook.

As Roach says, Pac gets 2m for fighting Valero and 15m for fighting Hatton. What the hell kind of bargaining tool is that? He might as well hold a gun to his own head and 'say give me 55% or I'll shoot'.

And Valero ain't ready for Pac. I love Valero - I love his commitment, his focus, his calmness, his 70's style latino hairdo, the whole thing. But somebody has to actually take the time to teach him to box before he thinks about stepping in with a Pac or a Marquez.

matter of degree/frequency really. leaping in was always a part of his game. Sometimes it was/is effective. He does do it an awful lot more than he used to though.

Looks like Valero will have to wait.:atu:

A fight that makes sense, that should happen in the meantime... Valero vs Katsidis. Thats a fight Valero should win, yet Kat would be his biggest test thus far.

Far more interesting fight. At least Hatton is proven. Valero is not.

I wouldn't have minded Pac/Valero but not at the expense of Hatton/Pac. Valero should fight Katsidis like you suggested especially in the interim. Manny didn't really have any names before fighting MAB, so I'm not opposed to giving an "unknown" a shot but not at the expense of a major matchup like we are now getting.

Agreed. I'm not saying I think Valero is a fraud. Its apparent he's very talented, but at this point I cant see him hanging with Manny. Pac is too polished for him right now.

BTW- a dream match, about year from now could be Valero vs Victor Ortiz. Now THATS a fight I'd love to see!:bears:

It's all a moot point now, since the fight is supposedly back on...

But not only did people complain about the Diaz fight, they flat out didn't watch it. I forget the exact PPV tally, but it was barely half of that of the Pac-Marquez rematch, if even that much.

Nor did many go out of their way to watch the replay a week later - most casual fans (meaning somewhere between hardcore and "Is Tyson fighting de la Hoya this week?") seemed oblivious to the fact that the fight even took place heading into Oscar's funeral.

I agree with you that Pac-Valero on regular HBO would've been a suitale alternative - but we know damn well HBO wasn't going to spring to put it on their airwaves. My hunch is, Pac is PPV all the way unless against an absolute bottom-feeder of a tune up.

I'm not sure Ortiz-Valero would ever be a more entertaining fight...or more competitive.

true. valero is barely proven at 130 let alone 135. why move up to 140 to be fodder for a strong super lightweight

Exactly, it's a shame how he used to be an action fighter and now he's become a grappler.

I've said it before as well. I'd love to see that fight, but it's not going be anywhere on the radar for Manny.

I can't see Manny doing anything right now other then waiting for negotiations with Floyd.

And rjj, Pacman Vs Valero would not be a fight for the ages, Valero would be fucking crushed just like Hatton was

This fight won't happen, but if it did Valero would be gone within the first 3. He stands no chance at all, none.

Valero is much better then Hatton. This fight wouldn't last longer then 5 rounds but at the very least Valero would have his moments hes an offensive juggernaut.

I disagree, I think it would be a mismatch just like Pacman Vs Hatton was.

What has Valero done to prove he is better than hatton? BEaten pitalua?

Manny will knock his exposed chin from Vegas to Venezuela.

Perhaps after he is flattened and exposed for the complete bum he is, Valero can get a job pumping gas for Hugo Chavez.
