ABC soup aside, there is a legitimate claim for Pacquiao being the most accomplished titlist ever in the sport.

6 Titles through 10 divisions (this includes ABC belts). Only Oscar Dela Hoya can claim such success.

4 titles lineal (man who beat the man), no other fighter can claim this. The next closest are Leonard, Mayweather and De La Hoya at 3 each.

I know he was the lineal Flyweight, Featherweight and now the JWW titlist. What's the fourth division?

It must have been vacant then because I don't think Marquez was the lineal champ at 130 when they fought.

Manny doesn't have any losses on his record caused by Marquez. You simply don't know much about boxing.

I started a similar thread a few months ago where I argued that Pac is the greatest multi-divisional fighter of all time.:bears:

Not the same as greatest or most accomplished fighter ever though. I'd say he's almost certainly top 20 at this stage though.

Fuck judges. They're no more qualified of their opinions on fights than he is. If he thought Marquez won, then he should judge Pac's place historically accordingly.

They don't determine his perception on who was the better fighter though which is basically all we're talking about when we speak about all time rankings.

And in the end, so what if they determine the official results? That's a necessary function they perform that lets the machinery of the sport run, nothing more. It doesn't actually make their particular perceptions on the fight any more worthwhile than yours or mine, only more consequential.

I love Pac, but you guys are all high

the greatest multi-division champ ever is Henry Armstrong and it isnt even close

all at once he was the Featherweight, Lightweight and Welterweigth champion

this is ALL AT THE SAME TIME

    NOTHING compares to that

let me sweeten it for you

if it werent for corrupt judging, he would have also held the MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE after he beat Ceferino Garcia (it was absurdly called a draw)

    FEATHERWEIGHT/LIGHTWEIGHT/WELTERWEIGHT/MIDDLEWEIGHT

no ABCs, no split titles... ONE WORLD TITLE PER DIVISION and ARMSTRONG HELD THREE and it shoudl have been FOUR

    SIMULTANEOUSLY

    Nothing compares to that EVER

Maybe it wasn't officially the linear title, BUT, it damn sure was a fight between the two best guys in the division and I doubt anyone will tell you otherwise.

It actually is more worthy because they are doing it as a job, and you and your gay buddies are just doing it for fun.

LOL@ you trying to make the point that your opinion means shit. :atu:

Oh, Pac compares. A flyweight champion winning meaningful fights at welter and titles at 140lb? Certainly you can easily & sensibly make a case for Armstrong's achievements being better, but you can't say Pac's don't compare. They're both equally unique and freakish accomplishments, from a strictly weight hopping perspective.

no, it doesnt compare... Pacman GREW into the higher weights... and he was a nothing special beltholder at Flyweight anyway

Armstrong did this ALL AT THE SAME TIME... and is recognized as an all-timer at Featherweight and welterweight (he didnt stay long enough at Lightweight)

Pacman's accomplishments have taken place over the span of SEVERAL years

Armstrong was a Featherweight who should have won the MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE in the SAME YEAR he was competing at 126... that is not something that anyone could ever match

The dude was sixteen and malnutritioned when he was a flyweight though. Yeah he won the title but he then promptly got knocked out in his 2nd defence.

He came from behind to beat the linear titlist in the division. That's nothing to scoff at.

I swear people overrate the old-timers. Just because Jimmy "Two Tooth" McGroo beat Peter "Polio" Davis in a 25 round fight at Featherweight doesn't mean it had more significance than modern day accomplishments. If anything, today's fighters are every bit as good (or better) athletes than before because of improvements in training found through research and science.

first off, you know jack about anything that happened before 1995, so go back to the bath house

secondly, we are talking about ACCOMPLISHMENT... are you too stupid to comprehend what is being discussed here, Mr. MIT?

One man... three UNDISPUTED WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ALL AT ONCE... and it should have been FOUR all at one

WHEN is not the issue, the accomplishment is the issue

what manny has done is unique, but i would not call him the most accomplished titlist ever...not by a long shot.

    he is getting there though
