I don't know about that Neil, especially in Marquez's case. Pacquiao found him and hurt him badly in their two fights. Who knows if Marquez would be able to get up from the same punches coming from a 140 lb Pac. I wouldn't be too confident about that.
marquez has been one of my favorite fighters as well, and i dont care to see this fight either. then again if he somehow lost to valero or bradley for 1/10 of the purse everyone here would be calling him a retard.
marquez is resilient, he gets up. he wont run smack into pacquiao's best shots either like hatton did. as it turns out malignaggi wouldve gave pacquiao more problems last saturday than hatton did.
It's well known Pacquiao was having major problems making 130 before he fought Marquez. Even weight drained he smacked Marquez really good.
This is undeniably true the knockdowns have been the key difference in both contests of course, full credit to Pac-man for that obviously
are you suggesting that pacquiao could have remained at super feather if he removed your throat from his johnson a few years ago?
You are right, corrected. Marquez is the most offensively skilled fighter there has been and easily one of the top 5 of all time offesively speaking, no one has a better range of punches and combinations than Marquez.
Are you saying...that you don't think Marquez would have won without the 3 KD's in the first round? Please don't be this stupid. I had Marquez winning by one point. But having it a draw or Pacman ahead by one point...fine, I don't agree but there is a case to be made...but if it wasn't for the first round Marquez would have easily schooled Pacman. Hell he did...he just didn't get credit for it...in either fights. There was a poll on many sites on the second fight, and at least 75% of the population had Marquez winning, I'm only guessing the other 25% were phillipino...and didn't watch the fight.
JMM also has a great defense. Especially when he's not trying to pound his opponent into the ground, but is couter-punching him round after round into submission.
Yeah he still has good defense, it used to be great, once he became more offensive minded he kind of loss that defensive mind...but...his offense has been used as a good defense lately...but head movement, feints, rolling and ducking has been takin out a bit.
He was saying if it wasn't for the KD's Marquez would have won clearly. Basically sayin how many rounds Marquez actually won against Pacman.
Actually that's not remotely true. Pacman won the first fight running away. Pacquiao won no less than 6 rounds of the first fight, but the second fight was close, very close. Even so, Marquez didn't win more than 7 rounds of the second fight.
Fact is Manny won both fights...and both were damn close fights, with the second fight being a bit closer. I think that Marquez just has a style that is problematic for Manny. Even so,...it seems as though Pacquiao moves up and retains every bit of his speed and power. It's uncanny.
It is. I think everyone is a bit surprised by it to be honest. I've never seen that before, ever, in boxing history, someone retain all their speed and add power as they move up.
Weed right now. But stoned or not I still think JMM would have won CLEARLY had it not been for the 1st round. That being said, props to Manny for catching JMM cold. Do you actually disagree?
I've watched them both and remember them both. Marquez arguably won the second. The first fight wasn't as close. Marquez won no more than 6 rounds and got knocked down 3 times in the process. I think people give Marquez too much credit in that first fight, probably because he made such a great comeback, and they were kind of expecting him to get taken out any round now, after getting smacked about in round 1. So I suggest you rewatch the first fight.
The only way THAT is a lie....is where the phrase "running away" is concerned. Manny won ,....imo.....a razor thin decision in that fight. A case could be made the other way as well.........but that first round, as connected to all of those CLOSE rounds.....equals a Manny win imo. The second fight probably shoulda been that DRAW.
the first running away? did you even see JMM in the ring? you make it sound like Manny was shadow boxing that night. :bangh:
Running away was an exaggeration. It's not like he dominated JMM, it was still very close, but ultimately the 3 knockdowns made it a clear win for Manny, points wise. It would have been super close without the knockdowns sure, but with the first round correctly scored 10-6? No.
That's a silly thing to say, seeing as I am better versed on the sport than yau, and probably prefer it too.
BoxFan is always bragging about how much he knows about boxing. I don't know, he says a lot of stupid shit. I don't see it.
