The first one that says "p4p this would..." is a fag. At welter, what happens? Is Manny going to stick and move to a decision, could his quick punches even hurt Mayorra or would Mayorga bullrush through him? What is your guess
I don't no from where Mayorga generated his punching power..cause he threw some of the sloppiest punches/combos ever......everything was horrible but it work for him......anyway... Manny Pac by Decision......he would jump in and out use his speed, Mayorga would be looking in the wrong place every time...he will be missing his punches..he would be throwing the right hand...and Pacquiao would be on Mayo left side peppering with the jab..Mayo would throw a left hook, Manny would go under it and counter w/ the straight left..and by out of range again...
Manny by late TKO. When the gap in talent, and class is so huge as it between these two, size doesnt matter. Manny would have a sharp shooting field day with the Nica punching bag.
Pacquiao would have to fight smart like he did against De La Hoya to avoid Mayorga's power, but if he was able to get ODH's respect, there's no doubt he'd get Mayorga's. And Mayorga's complete lack of defense would make him a sitting duck for Manny.
Merchant said he had knuckles like a mountain range. If he had extraordinarily heavy hands, and strong wrists, it would be enough generate power in spite of his technical flaws. Plus, especially at 147, Mayorga had pretty good hand-speed which of course contributes to power.
Agreed, although it would be pretty exciting while it lasts. Mayorga has taken flush bombs from guys bigger than Manny only to come back and dish out his own.
Mayorga at his best had very decent handspeed, coupled with unorthodox throwing angles, and undoubted power (no one else managed to get in Forrest's ass like that), and he's a handful for most of the recent world class welters...I don't see why its a fait accompli that manny would withstand his power, its too soon to tell what he can do or take against a good welter, he only shipped a handful of punches against hatton and De la Hoya, I'd give the benefit of the doubt to the known quantity, Mayorga, over Manny until we know more about him at the 140-147 range
Mayorga was too big, had too good of a chin and would not have trouble finding pacquiao. It would be a sloppy fight, but mayorga might've stopped pac in the later rounds after absorbing some punishment.
I agree. The Pacman overrating is getting ridiculous as of late. Pacman is the far better fighter but like you mentioned a prime Mayorga was just too big, had a hell of a chin and has decent hand speed himself. It would have been a long night for Manny.
Why would Mayorga not have trouble finding him? ODH did. And so did Hatton. Are you suggesting that Mayorga has better timing and accuracy than ODH and Hatton?
Because of styles. Oscar was not relentless the way Mayorga was, and perhaps Manny's punches would not have the same impact in him than they had to Hatton. I can certainly see a scenario where Mayorga is simply able to rush up close and work there. I pick Manny by late stoppage here though
Agreed... next we'll hear how Manny would have beaten Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Whitaker. I like the guy but he couldn't beat the 2009 version of Shane Mosley. With that said, Mayorga wins an ugly fight.
Yep! If you look most posters here already have Manny beating most of the greats. Its unbelievable. If I remember correctly they even have him beating a prime RJ for Christ sakes.
