Roach said that though a “Mosley fight is probably the most exciting because they both like to fight,†it's all about making the fight on even terms.
<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
“I have to protect my fighter,†said Roach, who administered the terms for Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya last year. “I spoke to Shane and told him that we would fight him at 142. He said he can’t make that weight.â€

Mosley asked why not 147, as Manny/Oscar was set at 147? Roach said that Mosley is not De La Hoya in terms of setting a weight handicap.

The fight Roach likes is Many/Mosley, if the Pomona fighter can make the weight. The world can only wait to see what transpires. Another match that could have consequences also takes place in June when Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey fight. If the Puerto Rican slugger wins, he would be asked to drop to 140 to fight Pacquiao.

Of course Cotto may not beat Clottey.

“You have a good point,†said Roach. “We’ll have to see.â€

Pacquiao ain't beating Roids Mosley. Thats a fight that Manny doesn't need and would be stupid to take.

Unless they can force Shane down in weight. I'd take him over Shane at 142 I believe, but not at welter.

Can your first order of business when you come into power, be to change the word (or in this case, number) censor's to exclude all numbers that are not weight class limits.

Perhaps if we can't read about catchweight fights, they'll go away.

I want to live in a world where every pound is a new weight class, and every weight class has 1000 champions.

Blah, he'd beat Roido at Welter. Mosley has lost to worse.

That's not too far away. And this way EVERY name on every fighter's resume is a "world champion" of some sort.

The second order of business should be to block the world "ducked" from the forum since very few people use it correctly.

I usually don't notice much of Kneel's post, but his boxing acumen left him very open to this response, and it evoked laughter.

Would you also take Manny if Shane was obligated to hop on one foot while fighting? This catchweight stuff is crap.

mosley would be half dead at 142lbs, cotto was half dead trying to make 140 about 5 or 6 years ago. roach thinks he is fred dibiase.

If Manny wants to fight Mosely, then Shane should be able to weigh 147 or below, which is the weight class he is currently fighting in. Shane shouldn't have to weaken himself to make a lower weight and be at less than optimum condition. At best he ends up with an unimpressive peformance and a loss and at worst he ends up like Richie Sandoval (or even worse).

Not to mention, a whole lot richer for the trouble.

On the subject of Richie Sandoval though a mate of mine has some fantastic stories about him and how his mind works.
