of course boxing is about the MONEY....but after DeLaHoya and Hatton?? Who was left to make Mayweather MONEY?? Guys like Cotto/Margarito/Mosley....May vs Cot back then would have done as much as May vs. Hatton...

but instead of fighting those guys who were REAL THREATS ..he decided to retire...

I'd love to see mayweather jr vs cotto.

I remember when they had a press conference here before the gatti fight. mayweather jr told bob arum he would ruin his boy cotto if arum had the courage to make that fight. arum looked furious.

Do you think Floyd will fight the winner of Cotto-Pac?

That...and he has apparently inherited the Mayweather douche gene from his father. When you combine the inherent Mayweather douchiness with probably no one ever telling him that he is out of line...it's not hard to see why Floyd acts the way he does.

But I agree with REED that some folks get too worked up about Floyd. Sure...he runs his mouth too much and is rather unlikeable...but what he says is mostly just hot air.

The Margarito Thing has been Beaten to DEATH...Floyd Got Basically THE SAME Money for Baldomir (AND the Lineal Welter Title), THEN he Fought Dela in the Highest Grossing Fight EVER...

Sugar Shane is JUST as Guilty of NOT Making the Fight as Floyd is...& 1nce Upon a Time, Cotto & his Peeps Said "Give Us 18 Months" when the Thought of Fighting Floyd Came Up...There's Almost ALWAYS MORE to the Story of WHY a Fight Didn't Happen...

Just So we're CLEAR, REED is GIVING Floyd the Comeback Fight w/Marquez AND the Mega-Fight w/Pac...But AFTER that, Floyd MUST Face Shane, Cotto or Whatever Other ELITE Welters there R @ the Time...

& Lastly, REED Knows it's NATHAN Personal btwn U & He...Just Good, CLEAN, HARD Debate...NATHAN Wrong w/That @ All...But Thanks for Stating it Anyways...

If Mayweather was REAL that would be funny....if talk shit about his opponents before and after he beats 'em......instead of talking shit about his opponents and then praising them after he beat him...

I've never really hated a fighters either. It might even be too strong to say I 'hate' Floyd in any meaningful way since I don't actually wish him any harm or anything. I just find him intensely fucking unpleasant as a person.

Exactly. Which is why I am bitching because I know he has no interest in making any fights worth a damn.

I hope to god Pac will not fold to Mayweathers demands like JMM did. If he wants the fight, make him come down to 140. I fhe can't make that weight, well too fucking bad, fight someone in your own damn weight class and you won't have that problem.

Sure he got basically the same deal for Baldomir and it was for the linear title. Every boxing fan on earth would have much rather seen him fight Margarito. It's easy to see why he took the Baldomir fight, I mean who wants to do more work for the same money? It just sucks that it's a fight we never got to see. That is really where my issues with Floyd started.

Wouldn't you have rather he faced Margarito?

Yeah, I've drawn the Naz comparison before and he was a fucking knob but the difference was there was a modicum of self awareness about him that is missing from Floyd. He was arrogant and obnoxious, but there was also a playfulness and fun like you say that leads me to vizualize moments off camera when the bluster dropped to journalists etc and he might have been quite personable. I don't think he was a total douche down to the bone. I'm certain you could cut Floyd he would bleed smelly douche juice.

Not Really, Because REED was CONVINCED that a Margarito Fight would've Looked VERY Similar to Floyd-Baldomir...SURELY U KNOW by Now that REED was "NEVER Impressed" w/Margarito:lol:...& Now that he's Been EXPOSED as a Cheater, it Pretty Much VALIDATES Everything his Naysayers were Saying All Along...N Lieu of Margarito, REED would Prefer Floyd to Face the Guy that WAXED Margarito...Sugar Shane...

JM Marquez, Pac, then 2 Guys Out of the Shane-Cotto-Paul Williams Mix...That's the Path REED Would LIKE to See Floyd Take...

Not at all, I'm 100% sure Manny loses that fight. I guess it would make you proud if Floyd beat up two lightweights in a row? Wow, what a great fighter that would make him.

I knew you were going to pull the "Cheater" card. So predictable. You HAVE to put that aside because at the time it hadn't happened yet. None of your Margarito hate had any validity to it at the time. Revisionist bastard!

I think the same as well, there was an interview with Naz a couple years ago. Obviously he was long retired by this point, and was looking a little bit like an oompa loompa, but he was talking about Mayweather, and said Floyd might be the best fighter he has ever seen, but that when Floyd does trashtalk it can get very personal and there seems to be a genuine dislike and hatred for his opponent, depending on who it is (he has been pretty cool with JMM to be honest), but when he (Naz) done it it was for a laugh and to draw publicity.

Off topic, but anyone think if Hamed - Floyd had happened, it would probably be one of the funniest press tours/conferences ever? Obviously Floyd would have fucked Naz up badly in the ring, but the trashtalk would have been hilarious, I can only think of Hopkins-Toney being funnier

Pac is the numero uno fighter at 140. Newsflash: Lightweight is 135lbs 5lbs south of Jr welterweight aka 140lbs.

Good to see you won't give Floyd an ounce of credit for beating the best P4P fighters in boxing not named Floyd Mayweather Jr.:bears:

what amuses me is folks who complain about mayweather jr picking on the smaller pacquiao, and instead wanting him to fight williams. sorry to break it to you chaps but williams holds a much greater size edge.

Ill pull the De la Hoya card. Floyd didn't fight Margalento because he had to get out of his deal with Top Rank. Oscar said that he wouldn't fight Floyd if Floyd was promoted by Arum so Floyd bought out of his contract.

No way in hell you can tell me that Margarito was:
1: A bigger fight than Oscar De la Hoya for Floyd
2: A better fighter than De la Hoya
3: Accomplished more had Oscar in boxing

Plus it was for another belt in another weight class.

I know it burns guys up inside but Margarito really hadn't accomplished much back in 06-07. He made his name off of Floyd not fighting him. If Floyd did fight him he would have been considered a bum.

Nope, he'll get no credit from me fighting guys as small as JMM and Pac. I expect him to beat those guys pretty easily.

Oscar was still a big pay day and nothing more. Yes, I am claiming right now that Margarito was a better fighter and an elite welterweight at the time. Oscar was not an elite fighter at that point.
