Winning a belt isn't that difficult if a fighter has noticeable talent and a promoter behind him...and Angulo certainly has that.

But he has been put in against fighters that will go well with his style.

I wouldn't mind seeing him fight someone like Yuri Foreman, that would be a BAD fight worth watching, but it's very doubtful a match-up like that happens in this boxing climate.

at best he is a poor man's margarito, and that last bit about his lacking hand speed is key.

Sure he can look good against a guy who makes Cintron look like Shane Mosley, but what will he do against someone with skills/power.

He's good, but will never be great

Correct on the last part, his lack of speed is going to be death. That Martinez cat on the under-undercard would easily beat him.He is too slow.

tsurkan is rugged. i'd give angulo a break considering he only has like 14 pro fights. he should fight that bum kirkland before going for a title shot.

He's at least progressed past the level some American Olympians have gotten to.

Still, some of his punches are thrown in slow-motion.

I understand the comparison to Margarito (or even Andrade) in terms of athleticism - and agree that Angulo has better technique than Margarito - but I think Margarito's adapted his style very well considering his physical disadvantages....Angulo is solid, and very strong for the weight, but he's more basic, which I think will hurt him as he moves up the ladder.

    MargariTO???...:dunno:

Angulo's ALREADY a BETTER Defensive Fighter than MargariTO...& he's More ACCURATE...

There's More "Science" to Angulo's Approach than there is to MargariTO's...

Angulo's More NATURALLY TALENTED than MargariTO...

being a better defensive fighter than margarito is like being faster than Cintron. Their may be "more" science to what he does, but with his style he doesn't have the chops or the ability to get to that level.

He's a solid fighter, a potential top 5/10 fighter for awhile, but not real championship material

saying angulo is more talented or skilled is like saying a guy like yuri foreman is more talented and skilled than margarito.

or i guess just about anyone who throws straighter punches is more 'talented' than margarito.

pathetic comparison. angulo hasn't beaten ANYONE.

Lets not pretend that Margarito's shoes are impossible to fill. He's no all time great who's likes will never be seen again. Is Angulo as good as Tony right now? Certainly not. Will he ever be as good as Tony? Its a possibility. Not sayin its a certainity, but again... lets not pretend as if Tony is something special, or that fighters like him rarely come around.

Angulo wants Duddy btw. I hope that fight gets made, but I highly doubt the handlers of that bum will put him in with Angulo. If it comes off, Angulo will beat up Duddy worse than he did Tsrkan.

So then why would you hope it gets made?

Everybody knows Duddy isn't that good.

There's plenty of names at 154 that are better...I don't see why Angulo should get another predictable assignment.

Cause bum ass Duddy's 0 needs to go already, and it'd be a fun beating to watch.

re-watching angulo whup that russian stiff was amusing. that douchebag limpley mustve had a flashback to the 'scene of the crime' in the bedroom with crazy candace as he was feverishly screaming "GO DOWN!!! GO DOWN!!! GO DOWN!!!! "

I usually stop off at indifference before I reach contempt for a fighter...what exactly is it about Duddy that elicits the desire for you to see him beaten?

I really didn't want to see him in againt Pavlik, but Smichet at the very least delayed the talk of that fight for a while.

Duddy is fighting Hearns next, which is probably closer to the level he shoud be at than Angulo...by now The Dog should be fighting a higher caliber opponent than either of them, whether they win or lose that bout.

it was way way ove the top......anyone unfamiliar with Lampey's hyperbole would have gone away from that fight assuming that Tsurkan would collapse in the shower later that evening

Hey Hitman - I wouldn't consider myself a "fan", but I certainly think Santos is extremely underrated by most.

He's way more dangerous - and hard-hitting and skilled and cagey - than many give him credit for; and he's proven it several times.

El Dog is good to watch. He's been dishing out some fun beatings.

Unfortunately though I don't think he's THAT good.

He is similar to Marge, but overall perhaps not quite as good.

He's a better "boxer", he punches straigher, and has a better jab. His power is similar, chin - too early to say, possibly not quite as good as Marge's. His workrate is excellent and he is very seasoned for the amount of fights he's had.

However, the problem is he's even slower than marge, and has even worse defense.

We'll have to wait and see how he fares against someone who could exploit his lack of speed and defense, like Santos or Martinez.

In fact, as of now I would probably pick both of them to beat Angulo.

By the way, Lewis was his usual retarded self. "Angola", and "When two pressure fighters meet in the ring, only one wins"

Just to add, I would give Angulo a chance to outhustle Santos, but I would be very surprised if he beat Martinez. Martinez is skillful, slick, accurate, and exceptionally quick for a junior middle.

In fact I am surprised he is not more popular. The guy can clearly fight, and he's fairly good looking too. I would have thought he'd have fought a high profile bout or two by now, or at least picked up a belt.

Bizarrely, a couple of fights ago, he fought a 4 rounder, wtf

Martinez has a chance to pick up a belt now, against old ass Forrest.
