He has two losses on his record, both of which came against a guy who beat Cotto and who proved to be a cheater, loading his gloves with a foreign substance. Cotto chose to deal with Margarito's artificially heavy-hands by not stopping to move nearly the entire fight. And just as Cintron was, Cotto was ultimately knocked out. The only difference I see as far as I can tell is that Cintron didn't run for nine rounds. He stood in there with Margarito and like all of Tony's recent victims, presumably buckled under the weight of plaster of paris. So why is he written off? You put Cintron in against Cotto, Mosley or Clottey and in my mind it's a pick-em fight. So why is he talked about like he's a fringe contender or something. And for the record, we all know his fights with Estrada and Feliciano were orchestrated by him to rectify his reputation - to establish that he's not afraid to get hit and mix it up and that he can hold up mentally in the face of adversity. That is, as long as his opponent hasn't wrapped his hands in plaster. If Cintron's run at 147 weren't derailed by the illegal tactics of Margarito, there's no telling where he'd be now. Obviously at 154 he's less of a monster but I still expect him to beat Angulo who is just another BAD fighter who will be knocked out sooner than later.
Margarito also had Plaster of Paris on his chin apparently, because he made Cintron's shots look like nothing twice
Something very strange about Cintron.. He has some mental block that is holding him back. Or maybe he just has no heart.. He does hit very hard, but as of late, he doesnt let his hands go. Nor does he seem to listen to his corner's instructions. He appears to not believe in himself...
i referenced the feliciano fight and the reason for it's being a war; i don't think it needed to be, do you? as far as Martinez, the guy can climb under a rock for all I care. Fighters don't win fights fighting the way he fought.
how is he not underrated? you talk about him like he's crap. but i bet Mosley or Cotto wouldn't want to get in the ring with him.
i think Cintron is waste, has no heart, doesn't commit to his punches, and doesn't have the skill to compete at the championship level. As terrible as Angulo is (and he is terrible) I expect him to KO Cintron in short order.
Shane Mosley would ABUSE Cintron, Dude...That'd B WORSE than the Shane-Margarito BEATDOWN...Shane's Chin is AS GOOD as Margarito's & Shane is BETTER In EVERY OTHER Capacity, Across the Board...Cintron is 100% UNproven Against SPEED Fighters, so your Post is BEYOND Presumptuous.... Simply Put, Shane would WIPE His Ass w/Cintron... The PRE-Margarito Cotto would've Done Likewise to a Lesser Extent...It's Still UNCLEAR Where Cotto is, N the Post-Margarito Era... REED:mj:
Troll Alert: Still though, I'll address this issue. First of all Cintron sucks. He has okay durability but he is not on an elite level. You can call Cintron matchups against Mosley, Clottey, or Cotto toss ups all you want but I guarantee all 3 of those guys stop Cintron mid rds at the latest. Cintron is not underrated, he truly does suck. If you want to call his accomplishments and career underrated, I'd accept that, but skillwise and as an all around fighter Cintron is not underrated. This was never more evident than in the Martinez fight where Cintron looked like a complete amateur. In fact, thanks to his overrated power, Cintron is more likely overrated as opposed to being underrated. Can't wait to see what the next shock value thread you come up with will be.
Shane's chin is great, but Margarito's is definately better. Shane has never been hit that flush by that type of power like Margarito has, by Cotto, Cintron and Mosley himself... Mosley hasn't taken the punishment Margarito has. Yeah a great chin none the less, but not on Margarito's level, but its ok, not many are.
and you'll be wrong and see that i'm correct - that Cintron is indeed under-rated. no heart because he couldn't stand up to an assault by a baseball bat?
What's the excuse in the Martinez fight...got hit, quit claimed headbut then whined like a girl once his head cleared. I've long maintained that Cintron is a welter/Jr. Middleweight version of Golota. If the guy can hurt him, he falls apart. if Angulo has a chin (no sold just yet) he rolls Cintron.
Margarito's been DROPPED & KO'ed MORE Times than Shane Has...THE ONLY Guy to EVER Drop Shane (Pro OR Ammy) is Vernon Forrest...The Uppercut that Forrest Caught Shane w/is as SWEET a Punch as ANY Fighter's Ever Tasted... Margarito's Chin is/was GREAT...But So it Sugar Shane's... REED:hammert:
Cintron Also TRIED to Get Himself Counted Out in that Martinez Fight...He PURPOSELY Got Up AS the Ref was Saying "10", but Unfortunately for Cintron, the Ref ALLOWED the Fight to Continue... Cintron WANTED the Fight to B OVER Right Then & There & he was Gonna BITCH about a "Quick Count" or Something After the Fact...It's AMAZING to REED how Guys like Floyd, Roy, Sweet Pea, Ray Leonard & Others Get Labeled as "Bitches" or Possessors of "Pussy" Styles of Fighting by Doub, but N the NEXT Breath, Doub PRAISES Guys like Cintron or Golota... REED:mj:
What's amazing is how nobody has caught on to Double L's troll like behaviour of making outrageous threads for shock value. Dude's been doing this shit forever, like when he made that thread once claiming that Shane deserved the Cotto victory and Soto deserved the Guzman victory, neither of which were disputed loses.
that's a pretty intricate inferrence you've made there - suggesting that: a. Cintron wanted the fight to be over b. Cintron didn't want to beat the count are you a mind reader? or do you just make this shit up?
What excuse does he need? Does a fighter with no heart get up from a punch on the chin he didn't even see? And keep on fighting? And earn a draw? I think Cintron did think it was a head-butt. I don't think he knew what hit him and since he didn't see a punch, he assumed it was a head-butt. If you watch the fight it was a clever punch by Martinez that any fighter could mistake for a head-butt due to it's unorthodox delivery and how short it was. But the bottom line is, he beat the count, kept on fighting and earned a draw. Why does he need an excuse for that? Nevermind REED's version of what happened. It's completely made up - there's no way in hell he could know what Cintron was thinking or that he wanted to not beat the count. WTF is that bull-shit?
Fighters R TAUGHT to Take the Mandatory 8-Count from a Kneeling Position...SOME Drag it Out to 9, if they're REALLY Hurt...Cintron Waited UNTIL the Ref Started Saying "10" Before Making ANY Motion to Get Up, Even Though his Eyes were CLEAR the Whole Time... It was ALREADY @ a Point in the Fight where it was APPARENT Cintron WASN'T Going to Win & Like he's APT to Do, Dude GAVE UP ON HIMSELF...So he TRIED to Go Out in a Way that Made it APPEAR that he Wanted to Fight, even Though he CLEARLY Rose AFTER the 10-Count...UNfortunately for Cintron, the Ref Reneged on his Count & Made Cintron Continue...But if the Ref had Waved it Off, THEN Cintron would've Acted BRAVE & Said he Thought he Beat the Count:shit:... & SPARE REED your "Mind REEDer" Nonsense, Dude...YOU'RE the 1 that Cavalierly Throws Around the Words "Bitch" & "Pussy" in Reference to HALL OF FAME Caliber Fighters... REED:hammert:
Those are opinions based on my preferences of fighters' styles. Yours is a fantasy you made up in your mind, based on a preconceived notion that Cintron has no heart. There's absolutely no way without your imagination could you arrive at the conclusion you've drawn regarding Cintron's motives, what he wanted to happen, etc. And it's ludricous that you have it in your head that you're in a position to make such judgements. You're literally claiming to have read Cintron's mind. That has nothing to do with my preference for fighters who don't spend 2 minutes of every round holding and never trade punches.
Cintron blows, honestly He is Michael Grant with a better chin And his power is sickeningly overrated Teddy Reid had the chin of an accountant and Cintron hit him forever before he finally stopped him I have followed Cintron's whole career waiting to see the evidence that is any more than an athlete that someone thought should give boxing a try Mosley would bamboozle him, so would Cotto
Grant had heart. Cintron doesnt. Grant climbing off the deck twice to stop Golota is more impressive than anything Cintron has done.
