Mosley: I want Pacman now!

WBA welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley announced today that he is ready to face Manny Pacquiao in the ring and is willing to meet at a catch-weight to make the fight happen. In a statement, Mosley said: “There are conflicting reports from the Pacquiao camp an upcoming fight between me and Manny Pacquiao. I want it to be known that I want to fight Pacquiao and I want to fight him now. I’m willing to meet at a catch weight to make that happen. I know this is what Freddie Roach wants as well, as he has previously stated this to press. I am the best fighter in boxing and I am ready to reclaim the title of number one pound-for-pound fighter.” Mosley last faced Antonio Margartio in January 2009 and delivered a ninth-round knockout. Pacquiao is coming off a second-round knock-out victory over Ricky Hatton in May.

Sorry to hear that he's going to give Roach his concessions on the weight but it's probably the best move for Shane to make. He's not getting younger and rather than possibly having to wait on PBF and Pacman to face each other he can fight Pac first and if Shane wins he forces a huge demand for the PBF fight that would be too big for even Floyd to ignore.

Mosley always gets passed over for the big fights he wants, by other GBP fighters.

"I have to go on vacation and go to the dentist"= "My Crossdressing boss is getting the fight and I have to wait".

Then a year later, I'm sure he wanted to fight Mayweather and Mayweather beat De La Hoya. Hatton gets the fight, with GBP knowing they could make a windfall and turn Vegas into Manchester USA.

Mayweather comes back and fights GBP fighter Marquez (not that PBF would fight Mosley after 19 months layoff).

Now Mosley wants Pacquiao. Watch GBP fighter Mayweather get the call.

Mayweather OBVIOUSLY wants no part of Shane. He never did. Never one time did Floyd call Shane out.

    It will never happen

I've heard mayweather jr call out fighting mosley on different occasions and those were several years apart. plenty of guys would like to fight mayweather jr now that he has achieved a level of fame that it makes losing much more gratifying financially.

I've heard Floyd call Shane out at least two times. The first was after Mosley jumped 140 and went to 147 to get a fight with Oscar.

The second as a ploy when negotiating a fight with Oscar.

So yes, Floyd spoke his name twice when there wasn't a realistic possibilty of the fight happening.

Well,...then if he actually has called out Shane,...since Shane is calling him out now, and would be about as big a fight for Floyd that is out there.......Floyd should jump on it.

But he won't, because he won't ever agree to a fight with Mosley who is much tougher, more tested and bigger,..and as fast.

mayweather jr would defeat mosley and it would not be an exciting fight. what is your official prediction for that match should it actually happen?

I heard mayweather jr mention wanting to fight mosley several times in the late 90s.

Damn Mosley wants a big money fight so bad he's willing to drain himself for it..

I don't think it's a money thing with Shane. I'm pretty sure he just wants an oppurtunity to fight and get back to p4p status as he says. Shane never was big at flossing away his money like Floyd. You never saw him, making it rain in the club, and living large. Even his home isn't really a mansion, but a bit more reserved for his tax bracket. As long as Jin doesn't take him to the cleaners he should be fine.

Shane tells Mayweather that he should fight welterweights and stop running. Now he wants to fight Pac in a catchweight.:dunno:

I would have thought thats a big IF. He doesn't have many paydays left and he hasn't made as much as his Golden Boy "partners", I'd say its very much a money thing, good luck to him.

Of Course it's a MONEY Thing w/Shane or Else he'd B Facing Carlos Quintana or Some Other Non-Descript Welter...If Shane REALLY Wanted the Lb for Lb Status, he'd Face Paul Williams, who is Perceived as a BIGGER Threat than Manny Pac...

Also, Bear N Mind that Shane is Going Thru a DIVORCE...So Of Course it's a Money Thing...Floyd & Pac R the 2 Biggest Money Options Out There for Shane & he's Gonna Bend Over Backwards to Try & Fight 1 or Both of Them...

Shane's first fight at 147 was against Wilfredo Riveria the week after Trinidad- DLH...the year...1999...Floyd didn't fight at lightweight until 2002.

Floyd was full of shit. Thanks for making that point.

To address your question about how the fight would go down...I think Mosley closes well over the final six rounds (as he typically does) to make it interesting. Whether Floyd wins enough rounds early is debateable.

I like Mosley in this matchup due to his chin, footwork and power.

To beat a guy with Floyd's style you either have to make him fight at a faster pace than he wants, pressure and be physical with him and have a chin to handle the incoming.

Look at Floyd's resume since the Castillo fights...he hasn't fought a guy who possesses most or many of those attributes. Oscar had a size advantage but was never a physical fighter and didn't fare well against slick guys (I still say he lost to Whitaker).

Floyd won't hurt Shane and won't discourage him and Shane could make him fight at a faster pace than he wants to even if it means Floyd staying on his bike to stay away from him.

I never thought Shane was a great puncher, was more about when he landed than how hard. I certainly don't think Mayweather throws anything to deter Shane.

No matter how it shakes out, it's not an easy fight for Floyd and Shane brings more to the table to trouble Floyd than Pac or Marquez. Pac could beat Floyd on volume...simply outwork him. Marquez doesnt have the chin or punch to phase Floyd.

The IRS on Floyd's back isn't a money thing for him?

Plus, wasn't the divorce finalized the week of or a couple weeks before the Margarito fight? Didn't they state that just as the opening bell rang?

As far as the "bigger threat" argument...Shane isn't a bigger threat than Marquez?

Of Course the IRS being on Floyd's Case is a MONEY Thing...If Nathan Else, Give Floyd Credit for Being UPFRONT about it ALWAYS Being a Money Thing....

REED Doesn't Recall Any Mention of the Divorce Being "Finalized"...Not Saying it Wasn't, but REED Can't Recall Hearing Anything Either Way on that Front...

Of Course, Shane is a "Bigger Threat" than Marquez is...U're Making it Seem as if REED was DEFENDING or TRUMPETING Floyd's Cause, when All REED was Doing was Pointing Out that Shane was ALSO In it for the Money...

Just poking your cage Brother REED.

It was my understanding the divorce was final before the margarito fight. I thought I recalled Neil saying Jin wanted to reconcile after Shane won.
