This story reminded me of an HBO segment Frank Deford did a while back on World Championship Boxing, about how Americans no longer take up boxing, using examples like Ken Norton Jr. playing football instead of following his father into boxing.

So I guess "Monk" Foreman, son of George, follows the recent footsteps of Elijah McCall, son of Oliver, as guys who couldn't tackle like Norton Jr. and are instead going pro in boxing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldv2gExLaBg.Houston Chronicle:

I like it when guys want to fight just to fight. He obviously has enough money.

    WAR MONK!!!

Too bad he didn't start earlier.

I just read it. He is trained by his father. If Foreman continues to do good he will definitely be getting a lot of media attention. This is good for the sport. I hope he is the same monster as his father.

Supposedly... Dad told all the kids that they couldnt even train in a boxing ring until they had their college degree.

So it's all daddy's fault. Even if he started four years earlier it would have been much better. Jr looks almost as mean as his father.

    Fight #2 will be Friday...against a guy who's 0-5.

It's his second fight period. What do you expect?

    More than this garbage.

Senior didn't start off this way, in fact, his pro debut was against tough Bob Hazelton who later ko'd Bob Foster.

I could have ko'd the stiff he knocked out in his "debut", and I can knock out this chump as well, many folks that post here could.

Probably...although these stiffs still had the balls to go pro at least. Most folk stick with amateurs.

Now, comparing who he's fighting to who his dad fought doesn't exactly seem appropriate.

I don't know that I expected anything, I was just making a note of it.

Senior was an olympic gold medallist.

This kid does have SOME talent; however, he is going to have to put some serious time in the gym. This kid is a pretty good athlete, let's just hope he takes this game seriously.

Leila Ali was crap when she first started and had gotten noticeably better over the years. Maybe George III can do the same.

    2-0.

Looks like they're keeping him busy.
