Didn't have the uncany power of Sr. but who does?! He is very good on his feet for such a big kid. I think with the right trainer and a good management group; Monk could surpise some people in about two yrs. Not a great deal of skill in training a HW. I think he should not try to fight like his dad and develope a solid jab with an sharp Str8 right. He his good legs and height also; he should be tought to mix that in with ring generalship.:dunno:

He has some potential but he is already 26 and he needs at least a good 4-5 years of serious training before even thinking of mixing it up with the contentders. I doubt he'll ever amount to much

I think living in his dad's shadow is the biggest issue. Fightbeat goto the tape! What is the difference between Monk and Wilder (Broze in 2008)?! Monk throws in combo more and has more power with bigger frame. I think everyone wants him to be that ole country boy from the Olympics. Let Monk be the first "Monk Foreman".:nono:

this was a complete disgrace. This fight should not have been sanctioned. If that due is allowed to fight I want a shot too.

1 of REED's MAJOR Pugilistic Pet Peeves is when PSUEDO Fighters MILK their Famous Last Names...Obviously, it's STRICTLY a Financial Move...If these People were SERIOUS about their Careers, they'd PROVE themselves 1st by Fighting Under ALIASES, THEN Coming Out of the Closet AFTER they've Achieved Something...

NATHAN Personal, but FUCK "Monk" Foreman....

It's a bit stiff to ask a boxer to change his actual name. I'm not sure he can be accused of milking his name when he's fighting the local milkman.

If he starts getting PPV dates, I'll agree with you.

About six months ago, they tried to get Monk some amateur fights.
The local am association didnt want any part of it.
First of all, how do you get an All-Comer opponent for a 240lb 26 year old? Not exactly alot of them at the local boxing clubs. And when they do find one, you think he's gonna be any different than this Clyde dude that was smoking at the casino after the weighin?
If Monk is stepping between the ropes, you might as well have 3000+ there paying to see it.

    Here's what we know:
-Monk inherited his Dad's frame, and is taller.
-He's learning how to throw power punches like his Dad, flat footed with hands held low.

    What we dont know yet:
-He didnt get hit so can he take a punch? He does have a big jaw, so maybe he has a chin..
-Can he develop his body into a boxer's? He is pretty soft still.
-Can he develop a jab to lead into that hopefully-inherited God given power?
-Does he have any desire when faced with adversity? Like his Dad said, he grew up wearing silk PJs, and is already driving a Bentley and spending Dad's money, so we can assume he's not had the typical hardships in life which give a boxer his desire and will.

I think it will be awhile yet before he gets tested in front of paying fans...

And I agree, at this stage, this is pure gimmack at best and a mockery of real boxing at worst. But if he's got any talent, he'll put alot of eyes on the sport that wouldnt be otherwise, AND he's not going to dissappear any time soon, so we might as well get used to hearing about him for atleast another year's worth of "Clyde's"..

The dude is freakign rich REED. He doesn't have to fight for financial reasons. He's got all the money he'll ever need. I think he just wants to see if he can do it. If he can, good for him. If he can't good for him for trying.

That's true but you're making this call after ONE fight? If he starts getting true boxing paydays then I'll agree. This fight means absolutely nothing.

REED has articulated some great points here in this thread.

Truth be told: I could knock the shit out of that bum in the time it took young lad Foreman to, or perhaps shorter.

I am not the only one here that could do that, as Andrew, Mike, REED, and others could take that slob out.

    Foreman accomplished nothing, bottom line.

You should fight Monk Karl. Call his people and get in the ring if you are so bad.

I'm just saying, at least the dude he fought had the balls to get in the ring with him. Do you?

I would get into the ring with that fat slob too and beat the crap out of him. This was a farce. A fucking disgrace. If you pay me a few $K I'll go in there and kick the shit out of monk too. Karl is right, this was garbage and should have never happened.

Not true Karl. He certainly didnt accomplish MUCH tho..
Truth is Ron Weathers accomplished a great deal in this fight. The WORLD noticed that George Foreman's son is now a professional boxer and this creates passion, hope, and attention to boxing.
All Monk accomplished was popping his cherry and getting rid of the jitters/nervousness of entering combat for the first time in his life. Not much, but significant and from here he can try to develop some boxing skills and harden his body into that of an actual boxer's...
Care or not, the world will watch...
