Quote from Clottey: " Even if I lose, I'll make a good account of myself, and they'll ask for me. The people that are picking me to win the fight, they're making a very good decision " I reckon he'll do enough just to lose in a competitive fight, he's not quite there at the highest level...Cotto UD
Clottey wins a close but deserved decision, and it causes wild outrage, because boxing is a business and Cotto has more of a conscientious tribe behind him and it generates more money and therefore there is this "feeling" that entitles Cotto to be awarded the decision if the fight is around the negative 7 - 5 range, and the best way to express that belief is that.... "You gotta take it from the champ, Clottey didnt take it from the champ".. I suppose?.. though I think Clottey has a paper belt of his own...and maybe Cotto lost his... but regained one recently?.. I dont know anymore.
Yep, although in the prediction contest i took Cotto KO 11 as i need the points and have to make picks accordingly. :boohoo:
I was going to pick Cotto by UD, but I'll say Clottey by Technical Decision since Teddy Atlas picked Cotto.
I think Clotty is a good fighter and he's strong and he's a tough fight for Cotto but I think Cotto is gonna look very impressive and stop Clottey late.. maybe 10 rounds
Cotto UD. I believe Cotto is able to TKO Clottey, all things being equal. But after seeing Clottey in losing efforts - especially vs. Margarito - you can see that he is skilled at surviving while putting out a reasonable but clearly losing effort when he needs to do so. The guy will never get knocked out, since when he is overmatched he kind of lays back, counters here and there, and keeps safe. And since he is an excellent fighter, even when he does this he seems to be performing adequately. If Clottey goes for broke near the end of what I think will be a losing effort, he could get stopped. But he won't. Cotto UD.
This sir is EXACTLY how I see the fight going. :bears: Clottey is an excellent defensive fighter, arguably one of the best in the business in fact, so whilst Cotto will likely do enough to win (presuming he has overcome the Margarito defeat fully and that his recent trainer nonsense is not a major issue), I'd be fairly surprised if Clottey was stopped. MTF
I see Cotto winning a pretty wide UD without dominating the action too much. I think he respects Clottey, and will be content in boxing his way to a decision.
